Chapter 103
SAGE
Scott pushed the heavy door open, the creak echoing through the dimly lit interior of The Rusty Fang. The scent of old wood, spilled ale, and a faint metallic tang greeted us. Inside, the bar was quiet except for a low murmur of voices. A handful of patrons lingered at scattered tables, their faces shadowed under dim hanging lanterns.
We followed Scott as he led us to a secluded corner where a man sat alone. His presence was imposing despite his seemingly relaxed posture. The hunter exuded an air of rugged charm that was impossible to ignore. His chiseled features were weathered, as if he’d spent more time battling the elements than under a roof. A faint scar traced the length of his right cheekbone, a testament to a life lived dangerously. His jawline was strong, covered in a day’s worth of scruff that only added to his appeal, and his piercing green eyes seemed to see far more than they let on.
His dark, tousled hair fell just to the nape of his neck, giving him an untamed look that paired perfectly with his broad shoulders and muscular build. He wore a worn leather jacket over a black shirt that clung to his frame; the fabric frayed just enough to suggest years of hard use. A faint, earthy scent of leather and pine seemed to follow him, making him seem like he belonged more to the wilderness than any civilized city.
Despite his rugged appearance, there was a sharpness in his gaze–a wit and intelligence that hinted he wasn’t just brawn. His smirk, quick and crooked, carried the confidence of a man who had seen it all and survived to tell the tale. Yet, beneath the surface, there was a shadow in his eyes, a glimpse of someone who had paid the price for the life he led.
“You’re late,” the man said, his voice low and gravelly.
Scott offered a tense smile as he pulled out a chair and sat across from him. “Had to make sure we weren’t followed. You know how it is.”
The hunter leaned back in his chair, his gaze shifting briefly to Titus, then to me. His eyes lingered for a moment, narrowing slightly before he returned his attention to Scott. “Let’s skip the pleasantries. What do you want?”
Titus stepped forward, his commanding presence drawing the hunter’s attention immediately. The air seemed to shift around him, his tone firm yet calculated. “We need your expertise,” he began, his deep voice cutting through the murmur of the bar. “There are several groups we need to track down and persuade to join our cause. These aren’t ordinary negotiations -they’re delicate, and the stakes are high.”
The hunter’s sharp green eyes narrowed as he leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table. “So, we’re not hunting rouges this time, huh? It sounds like you’re not just after alliances. What’s the catch?”
Titus didn’t flinch under the hunter’s scrutiny. “Some of these groups are… wary of outsiders. Others are outright hostile. We need someone who knows the terrain, their habits, and how to approach them without igniting conflict.”
Scott chimed in, his voice less commanding but no less serious. And someone who knows how to handle trouble if it comes to that.”
The hunter let out a low chuckle, a rough sound that hinted at years of experience in dangerous dealings. “You’re not just looking for a guide–you’re looking for someone who can do the dirty work if things go south.”
Titus’s jaw tightened slightly, but he met the hunter’s gaze without wavering. “We need someone who can navigate the unpredictable. Someone who won’t falter when things get complicated. Can you do that?”
The hunter smirked, his expression a mix of amusement and intrigue. “I can. But let me guess–you’re not telling me the whole story, are you?”
Titus’s lips twitched in the faintest hint of a smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “You’ll get the full picture when you need to. For now, all you need to know is that we’re building something bigger than any one pack. Something worth fighting for.”
The hunter studied him for a moment longer, then leaned back in his chair with a shrug. “Fair enough. I’m in–for the right price.”

Titus nodded, signaling to Scott, who placed a heavy envelope of cash on the table. The hunter glanced at it briefly before meeting Titus’s gaze again.
Scott reached into his coat and pulled out an envelope filled with cash, tossing it onto the table.
“One hundred grand,” Scott said. “And there’s more where that came from if you deliver.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
