Chapter 129
Chapter 129
SAGE
I had no idea how long I’d been sitting by the window, staring out but not really seeing anything. My thoughts had been spinning ever since Titus left the room, his last words replaying my head over and over again.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized something that made my chest ache. As long as I was here, Titus would never make the right choice. He wouldn’t do what needed to be done. Not while I was still in his life.
He needed Alpha Marcus’s support, and the only way to secure it was by agreeing to Marcus’s terms. But judging by what happened earlier, it was clear Titus wasn’t going to change his mind–not while he was still trying to protect me.
That left me with only one option. If Titus wouldn’t choose the path he needed to take, then I would have to make the choice for him. As much as it hurt to admit, I was the one holding him back. I was the last person he needed here.
I needed to leave. For him. For everyone relying on him.
My mind racing as I thought of every possible way to leave this place without Titus finding out. I went over every detail, imagining how I could slip away unnoticed, how I could vanish without a trace. But it wasn’t just about leaving; it was about making sure that once I was gone, Titus would never come after me.
That was the harder part. Titus wasn’t the kind of man who gave up easily, especially when it came to people he cared about. If I didn’t handle this the right way, he would search for me, hunt me down, and drag me back.
I had to find a way to make him believe that I was gone for good that there was no reason to follow. It couldn’t just be a clean escape; it had to be final. No loose ends, no lingering doubts. If I left even the smallest thread for him to pull, he would unravel it until he found me.
As much as it hurt to think about, I had to make it look like I didn’t need him anymore. Maybe even like I didn’t want him. It was the only way to protect him, to push him toward the future he deserved, even if it meant breaking his heart–and mine) -in the process.
I didn’t wait another minute and look for Kieran. As much as I hate it, he’s the only person right now that can help me. He might not help me out of the goodness of his heart, but I’m sure he will do it because he has his own agenda.
I went straight to his room and knocked on his door with urgency. It didn’t take long before he finally opened.
“Well, well,” he drawled, his tone light but his eyes sharp. “Look who graces us with her glorious presence,” he said sarcastically.
I crossed my arms, meeting his gaze with quiet resolve. “I need to leave. Can you help me?” I asked directly. There’s no need to run around the bush. I only have limited time before Titus gets a hint of what I’m about to do.
He raised a brow, intrigued. “That sounds dangerous, Sage. I don’t think I’m up for it.”
“Cut the crap. We both know this is what
you
wanted,” I said.
He then opened the door widely to let me in. “Let me guess,” he started as he took the chair placed in the corner of the room. “You’ve finally decided to ditch this circus and run away with me. Can’t say I blame you, honestly. I am a catch.”
I rolled my eyes, sitting across from him. “You really have a way of seeing things differently, do you?” I said, raising my eyebrows. “But you’re not entirely wrong.”

Chapter 129
His smirk faltered just a little, his sharp instincts kicking in. “Go on,” he said, leaning forward slightly.
90%
“I need to leave,” I said firmly. “And I need to do it without anyone being able to track me. No one can know where I’ve gone –not Scott, not Titus, no one.”
Kieran tilted his head, studying me with a mix of curiosity and caution. “You’re talking about disappearing. For good.”
I nodded. “Exactly.”
He let out a low whistle. “That’s a tall order, sweetheart. Especially with Titus breathing down everyone’s neck like an overprotective wolf on steroids.”
“That’s why I’m coming to you,” I said, my voice steady despite the storm of emotions inside me. “You’re the only one who knows how to stay under the radar. You’ve got the skills, the resources. And let’s be honest–you’re probably the only one crazy enough to actually help me pull this off.”
Kieran leaned back in the chair, his sharp eyes glinting with amusement as he watched me. “It would be my pleasure to help you, Sage. Truly it sounds like the kind of chaos I live for.” He paused, letting the moment stretch before his smirk deepened. “However, I do have one tiny problem with your request…”
He shifted forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his hands laced together as he propped his chin on them. The motion was casual, but the weight in his gaze pinned me where I stood. “Have you forgotten about our deal?” he asked, his voice low and pointed.
I stiffened. Of course, how could I forget? The blood pact we made–an unbreakable agreement sealed in desperation–was the reason I owed him in the first place. It had been the price of his initial help with Titus’s cause.
“No,” I said firmly, my voice steady. “I haven’t forgotten. In fact… I stepped closer, meeting his gaze head–on. “I don’t see any problem with it. Isn’t this the perfect chance for you to call in your end of the bargain? Why wait when we can settle the deal right now?”
The smirk on his face faltered, disappearing like smoke. For a fleeting moment, his playful demeanor was replaced by something darker–something calculating, as if he were assessing every word I’d said, weighing my intentions like a predator studying its prey.
“You’re awfully quick to offer yourself up, Sage,” he said slowly, his tone laced with suspicion. “Most people would be scrambling to find a way out of a blood pact, not marching straight toward its fulfillment.”
“I’m not most people,” I replied evenly. “If this is what it takes to get your help, then so be it.”
Comments
The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
