“Halt!” Titus‘ loud voice boomed in every corner of the hallway,
And just like that, my body stiffened, and my feet were glued to the ground. I tried to move, but I couldn’t. Was it because of the leg bracelet?
“Fck!” I cursed under my breath.
“What do we have here?” he said as I heard his deliberate footsteps behind me. “A one sneaky little kitten.
“I wasn’t sneaking,” I denied.
I gasped for air when I felt his fingers brushing against my nape as he slowly pushed my hair aside, revealing my neck. My throat felt dry when I felt his warm breath brushing against my skin.
Fire slowly crept into the fiber of my being as his warm lips touched my ear before he whispered, “Release…”
With just one word, the invisible force holding me disappeared, and I stumbled slightly as control of my body returned. I didn’t notice that I was holding my breath the whole time. Only when he whispered, “Breathe…” did I let out a loud breath. That’s when I realized that he uses his alpha command over me.
I stiffened, my stomach twisting. Titus’s commands had never affected me before. The power of the ancient red wolf that was left inside my body helped me to resist his alpha’s command.
Now that my power had vanished the moment I gave birth to my twins, I was no different from anyone else under his rule.
Helpless. Defenseless. Forced to obey with a single word.
The thought made my blood boil.
I curled my hands into fists, my nails digging into my palms as I swallowed the bitter truth.
As soon as I was able to move my body, I quickly moved away from his sinful touch. When I looked at him, I saw that familiar smirk playing on his lips.
“I wasn’t sneaking,” I repeated, my voice steadier this time.
Titus raised a brow, his arms folding across his chest. “Then what, exactly, were you doing here?”
His gaze was sharp, searching, as if he already knew the answer but wanted to hear me admit it.
I squared my shoulders, refusing to let him see even a flicker of hesitation. “Exploring.”
He chuckled, dark and knowing. “Exploring what, kitten? Or should I say… who?”
Heat crawled up my neck, but I masked it with an eye roll. “You think too highly of yourself, Your Majesty. There’s nothing interesting about it.”
Titus took a step forward, closing the gap I had just created. “You don’t have to deny it, kitten. All you have to do is ask, and I’m more than willing to let you explore my body,” he countered, his voice dropping to something almost dangerous.
My face contorted in annoyance. “I’d rather spend my time trying every possible way to escape this place than waste my

time with you, Your Majesty,” I replied with a sarcastic smile plastered on my face.
“I want to rip that fake smile of yours so bad…” he said as his eyes darted on my lips.
Instead of fear, my body reacts differently to his threat. “I’d like to see you try,” I replied, masking the heat caused by his body that was slowly creeping through my spine.
“Oh, I will, kitten. I will punish you so hard that you won’t be able to get out of your room for weeks,” he said.
“Not when I’m dead.”
His smirk faltered quickly and his eyes darkened. “Careful, Sage,” he warned as he stepped back, “I’d hate to see you waste all that fire.”
I scoffed, masking the way my heart hammered against my ribs. “Funny, because I plan to burn everything down.”
Titus exhaled a quiet laugh, shaking his head as if amused by my defiance. Then, with a flick of his wrist, he turned away.
“Go back to your room, Sage,” Titus ordered, his tone leaving no room for argument. “I have more important matters to handle than playing cat and mouse with you.”
I stood there, glaring at his back as he walked away, my nails digging into my palms.
For a fleeting moment, an idea crossed my mind–one that made my stomach twist in uncertainty. What if I asked for his help? As much as I hated to admit it, Titus was the one person powerful enough to protect my twins. If anyone could keep them safe, it was him.
But the thought terrified me just as much as it tempted me.
If I told him the truth, if he discovered that we had children… what would he do?
Would he protect them, or would he use them against me? Or worse, he would take them away from me.
I clenched my fists, my mind racing. No, I couldn’t take that risk. As much as I wanted to believe that some part of him was capable of caring, I knew better than to gamble with my children’s safety.
Titus was dangerous. And if he found out about the twins, I might lose them forever. That was a chance I refused to take. I retreated for now and went back to my room.
As soon as I stepped into my room, I slammed the door shut behind me, pressing my back against the cold wood. My chest rose and fell rapidly, my mind racing.

ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...

This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
