Chapter 39
SAGE
“My lady, are you planning to go somewhere?” Elara asked, curiosity evident in her eyes as she noticed me getting ready to
leave.
I hadn’t anticipated Elara’s arrival. If I had, I would have left much earlier. Now, I had to think quickly of a way to leave the palace unnoticed.
“N-No,” I stammered, my eyes darting around the chamber as I desperately tried to come up with a plan.
“If you wish to go out, I can accompany you, my lady,” she offered
“Can I?” I asked in genuine surprise.
She chuckled at my expression. “You’re not a prisoner here, my lady. You can leave the palace whenever you want,” she explained.
I scoffed. “That would have been useful information when I was still trying to escape this place for good, I murmured under my breath.
“Were you saying something, my lady?” she asked, tilting her head.
“N-Nothing. I quickly denied. “Now that you mention it, I think I’d like to go out. I want to look for a new dress,” I said, improvising
“Of course, my lady. I’ll inform the guards and prepare the car, she said before leaving the room.
Once Elara was gone, I let out a sigh of relief. This unexpected turn of events might actually work in my favor.
I hurriedly finished packing my bag, making sure everything was in place. I grabbed my cloak and dagger, slipping them into the bag, and waited for Elara to return.
After a few moments, she reappeared, a smile on her face. “The car is ready, my lady. Shall we?”
I nodded, trying to maintain my composure. “Yes, let’s go.”
As we walked through the palace halls, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of anxiety and anticipation. This was my chance to find the answers I needed to understand the mark and my newly awakened wolf. I just had to make it to the witch without anyone noticing, not even Elara.
Though she has been nothing but good and accommodating since I arrived at the palace, I’m still not sure where her loyalty lies. Now that I’m harboring a great secret that may cost me my life, I can’t trust anyone.
Elara led me to the car waiting outside. The driver opened the door, and I slipped inside, Elara following suit. The car started, and we drove away from the palace, the tension in my chest easing slightly with each passing moment,
As we left the palace grounds, I glanced at Elara, who was busy chatting with the driver about mundane matters. I knew I would have to make my move soon. The outskirts of the kingdom were still a considerable distance away, and I couldn’t afford any delays.
We reached the edge of the bustling city, and I saw my opportunity. “Elara, could you stop here? I just remembered I wanted to visit a specific shop nearby, I lied smoothly.

I let out a loud sigh. I came here to find answers, but it seems like all I get are more questions.”
“Now that the spell has broken, what happens next will be up to the moon goddess.
“Is there a way for me to stop it?”
“What’s destined to happen will happen. There’s no way to stop it, my child. I’m afraid you have nothing else to do but prepare,” she answered.
I slumped my shoulders, feeling defeated. How will I go on with life knowing that the man I learned to cherish will die in my hands?
“Here, take this.” Marin said as she handed me a dagger with symbols carved into its handle.
“What’s this?” I asked curiously.
“It’s called Moonblade. It’s a weapon blessed by the Moon Goddess. It is the only tool that can vanquish the deep-rooted evil living inside His Majesty, the witch explained, her voice grave.
I was taken aback. “You know about the evil residing inside His Majesty? What do you know about the leviathan? Is there any way for me to kill it without sacrificing His Majesty’s life?”
She gave me a long, thoughtful look. “You can find all the answers you are looking for here,” she said, handing me a black book.
I opened it, eager to find some guidance, but my excitement turned to confusion. “There’s nothing in here,” I said, flipping through the blank pages.
“The answers will appear when you need them,” the witch assured me.
“But I need them now!” I exclaimed, feeling a surge of frustration and desperation.
The witch’s expression softened. “I understand your frustration, Sage. The path ahead is difficult and uncertain, but you must keep your head clear. The moonblade is a powerful weapon, but its true power lies not just in its blade but in the strength and purity of the one who wields it.”
I cliched the book tightly, feeling the weight of my responsibility. “How do I make the answers appear? How do I use this
book?”
“The book will reveal its secrets in time,” Marin had cryptically assured me.
“How will I know when it’s time?” I had pressed, but instead of an answer, she blew a handful of shimmering gold dust into the air before me.
Instinctively, I closed my eyes, trying to shield them from the glittering particles. When I cautiously opened them again, I found myself standing in the bustling market where I left Elara.
Confusion swirled within me as I scanned the crowd, but there was no sign of Marin or the place was just standing. Before I could gather my thoughts, Elara’s familiar voice cut through the ambient noise of the market.
“My lady!” she called out urgently, drawing the attention of nearby vendors and shoppers. “Where have you been? I’ve been searching everywhere for you!” Her tone betrayed her worry and relief in equal measure.
“I just lost my way, I lied.
She then let out a loud sigh of relief. Then her eyes fell on my hand. “What’s that?” she asked, noticing the book clutched in

my hand.
“I found it at a book sale.” I improvised quickly, tucking the book away in my bag before Ela. Lould scrutinize it further.
She then shrugged her shoulders and didn’t press on the matter. “Why don’t we go look for that dress you mentioned earlier?” she suggested.
A sense of urgency gripped me, and I shook my head gently. “Actually, Elara, I don’t think I need the dress anymore. Let’s return to the palace, I said decisively, eager to resume my research.
Elara looked puzzled but nodded in agreement, sensing my urgency. We made our way back to the palace swiftly, my mind racing with thoughts of the blank book and the mysteries it held. As we walked, I couldn’t shake the feeling that time was slipping away, and each moment spent away from the answers I sought was a step closer to a perilous unknown.
As Elara and I made our way to the palace, my mind was in turmoil, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the fate that’s waiting for me. The moment we stepped foot in the palace, I walked briskly towards my chamber.
I was so engrossed with what’s going on inside my head that I failed to notice the imposing figure standing directly in my path. It wasn’t until I collided headfirst into a solid, well-muscled chest that I realized someone was there.
“I’m beginning to feel jealous of whoever occupies your thoughts so completely that you didn’t even see me standing here,” Titus teased, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“Y-Your Majesty… I stammered, caught off guard.
“Where have you been?” he asked, his tone a mix of curiosity and concern.
“I was… just out for some fresh air, I lied, trying to maintain a casual demeanor. “Elara and I thought a walk might do me some good.”
Titus raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. “A walk? It hadn’t been a day since you’d been released from your lockup. Aren’t you pushing yourself too much? Shouldn’t you be resting?”
I’m fine, Your Majesty. “I needed the walk,” I insisted.
Titus studied me for a moment longer, then sighed. “Alright, but next time, let someone know where you’re going. It’s not
safe to wander off alone.”
I nodded, feeling a pang of guilt for the deception. ‘I understand. It won’t happen again.”
“Good,” he said, his tone softening slightly. “Now, let’s get you back inside. There are things we need to discuss.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
