Chapter 60
SAGE
I continued walking without knowing where to go. I assume that I’ll be occupying the same room as I did, so that’s where I was headed. My mind was in haze. The emotions swirling inside me were confusing. I keep on thinking about Anna. Her sudden appearance still confuses me. Despite a lot of questions flooding my mind, I didn’t bother seeking answers. I wasn’t planning on staying here for good. I need to come up with a plan to get out of this place immediately.
A few minutes walking along the hallway of the palace when I heard Elara’s familiar voice behind me.
“My lady, wait up!” Elara’s voice called out, urgent and breathless.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see her rushing toward me, nearly out of breath. She looked flustered, her usually composed demeanor slightly ruffled.
“What happened to you?” I asked, a hint of concern creeping into my voice. “You… were… walking too fast,” she managed to say between heavy breaths.
I couldn’t help but chuckle at her complaint. “I’m sorry, Elara. I didn’t realize you were following me.”
“I’ve been calling you for a while now,” she said, still trying to catch her breath. “I’m sorry. I must be lost in thoughts that I didn’t hear you,” I explained.
“Are you okay, my lady?” she asked with her voice filled with concern.
“I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be?” I replied, forcing a smile on my face. “Come on, let’s go. You’re probably tired from our journey. Let’s find our room.” I held her hand and pulled her as we walked together.
As Elara and I continued down the dimly lit hallway, she looked at me with curiosity and concern. “But my lady, do you know where we are staying?” she

I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. “In my old room, probably,” I replied, though I wasn’t entirely sure. “Or we can just take any room. I’m sure there are plenty of rooms available around here.”
Elara didn’t seem convinced, but before she could say anything more, a royal maid appeared from around the corner. She approached us with a deep bow.
“My lady,” the maid addressed me in a calm, measured tone. “His Majesty has instructed me to lead you to your quarters.”
I exchanged a quick glance with Elara, a flicker of unease creeping into my thoughts. “Lead the way.” I said.
The maid led us down another long corridor, the sound of our footsteps the only thing breaking the silence. The palace felt different, somehow heavier with unspoken tension. I tried to focus on where we were going, but my thoughts kept drifting back to the events of the day, to the sight of Anna, to the confusion and frustration that still gnawed at me.
Finally, the maid stopped in front of a large, intricately carved door. She turned to face me, her expression unreadable. “This is where you will be staying, my lady.”
I stared at the door. A cold sense of recognition settled over me. This wasn’t just any room. It was the king’s quarters—Titus’s room. A place I hadn’t
entered in what felt like a lifetime.
Elara’s eyes widened as she realized where we were. “My lady,” she whispered, her voice filled with concern, “this is His Majesty’s room.*
I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice calm. “Thank you,” I said to the maid, but before she could leave, I added quickly, “Actually, I would prefer another room. Could you please arrange that for me?”
The maid blinked, surprised by my request. “I apologize, my lady. But it’s under the king’s strict order that we let you settle here in his room,” she insisted

“I understand. But I’d like to stay in a different room. Don’t worry about His Majesty; I’ll handle it,” I assured her.
She stared at me for a moment, weighing the situation.
“Either you bring us to another room, or we’ll find one ourselves,” I added to convince her even more.

“Of course, my lady. I will prepare a different room for you at once.” With another bow, she turned and hurried off, leaving Elara and me standing in the corridor.
Elara looked at me with curiosity. “Are you sure you’re going to go against His Majesty’s order?” she asked worriedly.
I smirked, leaning back against the large door of Titus’ room. “Elara, I’ve been disobeying his orders since we met. Why change now, right?” I teased, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere that had settled around us.
Elara paused in her unpacking, her eyes narrowing as she looked at me. She shook her head in disbelief, though a faint smile tugged at the corners of her lips. “You’re going to get us both killed, you know?” she said, her tone half- serious, half-amused.
I let out a small laugh. “Maybe,” I admitted, the reality of our situation was not lost on me. “But what’s life without a little risk? Besides, you already know what you signed up for when you decided to stick by my side.”
She rolls her eyes in annoyance. “And you are making me question that decision.”
Still grinning, I walked over and draped my arm around her shoulder, pulling her close. “Oh, come on, don’t be so serious. I promise I’ll make it worth your while. How about I buy you a drink? Consider it a peace offering for all the trouble I’m bound to get us into.”
Her eyes widened in shock, her mouth dropping open as she stared at me in disbelief. “Sage! We’ve only been back for a few minutes, and you’re already planning on sneaking out? Are you out of your mind?”

I chuckled at her reaction, thoroughly enjoying how easy it was out of her. “Relax, Elara. I’m just teasing-mostly.” I paused, giving her a sly smile. “Unless, of course, you’re up for it?”
She shakes her head. “No, Sage! We had just been acquitted of all the charges against us. I don’t want to get into His Majesty’s bad side again.”
“Tss. Fine!” Elara huffed, crossing her arms in mock irritation. But I could see the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She might pretend to be annoyed with me, but deep down, I knew she’d never truly leave my side.
A few minutes later, the maid returned, her head slightly bowing in deference. “My lady, I have prepared your previous room. It’s ready for you,” she informed us, her voice soft and respectful.
“Thank you,” I replied, giving her a small nod of appreciation. She curtsied once more before quietly slipping away, leaving Elara and me alone in the dimly lit hallway.
“Let’s go,” I said, turning to Elara with a slight tilt of my head, indicating the direction of my room.
Elara hesitated for a moment, her gaze shifting down the hallway that led to the s**nts’ quarters. “I’d better go back to the maid’s quarters,” she said, though her voice lacked conviction.
I raised an eyebrow, giving her a knowing look. “You don’t have to,” I countered gently. “You can stay in my room. We’ve been sharing a room for a year now-what’s one more night?”
She looked at me, a mixture of gratitude and uncertainty in her eyes. “But things are different now. You’re back in the palace, and—”
“Exactly,” I interrupted, my tone firm but kind. “I’m back, and that doesn’t change anything between us. You’ve been my closest companion through thick and thin, and I wouldn’t feel right sleeping in that big room all by myself.” I paused, softening my voice. “Besides, I could use the company. It’s been a long day.”

Chapter 60
Elara sighed, her resistance crumbling as she finally relented. “Alright,” she agreed, a small smile playing on her lips. “But only because you asked so nicely.”
I grinned, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as we walked toward the room. “I knew you couldn’t resist,” I teased, earning an eye roll from her.
We made our way down the familiar corridors. When we finally reached my room, I pushed open the door, revealing the grand space that I had once called my own. It was just as I remembered-elegant yet warm, with soft lighting casting a gentle glow over the rich fabrics and polished wood. But despite its beauty, the room felt cold and empty without the sense of
camaraderie that had filled the simpler quarters Elara and I had shared during our time away.
“Well, here we are,” I said, turning to Elara. “It’s not exactly our old room, but I think we can make it work.”
Elara looked around, her eyes wide as she took in the lavish surroundings. “It’s…different,” she said, her voice tinged with awe. “But it’s nice.”
“It’ll feel more like home with you here,” I said, smiling as I squeezed her shoulder. “Now, let’s get settled in.”
Elara’s expression softened, and she nodded. “Alright, let’s do this,” she said.
As we prepared ourselves to settle in for the night, we heard a loud thug coming from the door. We both turned to the door at once, only to find His Majesty barging in.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he asked with a big frown on his forehead.

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
