Chapter 63
SAGE

It’s been two hours since the maid left. Beta Scott had also been standing outside my chamber for two hours, waiting for me to come out.
I couldn’t help but smile as I watched Elara pacing back and forth while biting her nails as she kept on glancing at the door. She kept on flinching at every faint noise coming from outside of the room.
“Will you please sit down, Elara?” I told her.
“How can you be so calm, Sage? You are making His Majesty wait! Why don’t you just ask him to put our heads on the guillotine?” she snapped at me.
“If he’s going to kill us, we’d be in prison cell rather than this room, right?”
“You can’t be sure of that! What if he finally lost his patience and realized how you’re such a pain in the a** huh?”
If it weren’t for Elara, I would have stayed here longer. But I want to put her out of her misery. I was afraid that if I continue to stay here, she’ll soon suffer a heart attack. Besides, it’s already midnight. He’s probably fast asleep by now.
“Fine. I’m going,” I announced.
Her eyes widened in glee. She even clapped her hands in excitement. “Finally!” she exclaimed. She excitedly opened the door to inform the people waiting outside.
As I stepped out into the dimly lit hallway, the waiting s**ts and guards snapped to attention, bowing respectfully. I caught sight of Beta Scott, standing at the far end of the corridor. He looked completely unbothered, no sign of irritation on his face, despite the fact that I’d made him wait outside for over two hours.
A pang of guilt shot through me. It wasn’t Scott or the others I was trying to frustrate-it was Titus. Yet, they were the ones who had been left standing around, waiting for my stubbornness to run its course.
I let out a soft sigh, feeling a twinge of regret. “I didn’t mean to keep all of you waiting for so long,” I murmured, more to myself than anyone else. But Scott heard me.
He gave a slight nod, his expression calm, as if he understood. “It’s no trouble, my lady. We’re only here to assist you when you’re ready.”
His words, though polite, only made the guilt sink deeper. I straightened my posture, pushing away the hesitation. If I was going to face Titus, I needed to do it with the same fire I always had.
But a part of me couldn’t help but wonder if this time I might’ve pushed him just a little too far.
Elara lingered by the door, her excitement still palpable, while I took a steady breath and headed down the corridor. The soft click of my boots against the marble echoed through the silent hallway, and I could feel the weight of every eye on me -s**ts, guards, even the occasional curious glance from behind a curtain.
As we neared the grand double doors of Titus’s chambers, my heart gave an unexpected jolt. I wasn’t nervous, not exactly, but there was something about facing him after making him wait that long, after pushing him to the limit, that made the air feel thicker.
Scott fell in step beside me, his expression neutral. He seemed entirely unfazed, a stark contrast to the tension I felt thrumming through my veins.
“He’s waiting for you inside, my lady,” Scott said softly, his tone almost sympathetic.

I raised an eyebrow, glancing at him. “He’s still awake?” I asked, half-expecting some sign of the frustration I’d intended to
cause.
Scott’s lips twitched into a barely there smile. “He is, my lady. I’m sure he’ll be relieved to see you.”
“Relieved?” I muttered under my breath, scoffing. “I doubt that.”

As we stood outside the door, he gave subtle nod to the guards, who stepped aside to allow me passage. Elara shot me one last hopeful look before disappearing down the hall, leaving me to face the king alone.
I paused for a moment before reaching for the handle. My hand hovered over it, hesitation blooming in my chest. For all my bravado, for all the games I played with Titus, this moment felt different-heavier somehow.
I pushed the door open, the grand chamber coming into view. The warm glow of candlelight flickered across the room, casting long shadows across the stone walls.
Titus was sitting on the bed, holding his laptop. The two bedside lamps were still on and were enough to illuminate the entire bedroom. This isn’t exactly what I was hoping. I was assuming that he’ll probably be asleep by now, so I don’t need to sleep in his room. But now that plan is out of the picture, I need to come up with another plan. However, as I tried to roam my eyes around his chamber, I noticed that the long couch that used to be on that right corner of the room was gone. I was thinking about sleeping on that when things didn’t go according to my plan. But it seems like even plan B isn’t going to work.
He still hasn’t lifted his eyes from his laptop. The silence between us stretched, thick and unspoken, before I finally broke it. “You’re still awake,” I said, my voice laced with a challenge, as if daring him to call me out for my ta**in***
He slowly turned his gaze in my direction, his gaze locking onto mine with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. “You took your time,” he replied, his voice smooth but edged with something darker.
I stepped closer, lifting my chin defiantly. “I don’t appreciate being summoned like a s**t, and just to be clear, I have no intention of sharing your bed, Your Majesty. You might make the rules around here, but forcing someone into anything is still wrong.”
A dangerous smirk tugged at his lips, though his eyes stayed locked on mine. “Who said anything about forcing you?”
My brow furrowed in confusion as I tried to make sense of his words. “So… you’re not planning to force me?” I asked, skepticism thick in my voice.
He chuckled, the smirk never leaving his face. “No, I’m not,” he answered calmly.
The confusion in my chest deepened. If he didn’t summon me to force anything, then why was I here? I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was some twist I hadn’t figured out yet.
“If this isn’t about that, then why did you call me here?” I asked, frowning harder.
His smirk widened. “Oh, make no mistake, kitten. I did bring you here with the intention of making love to you…all night,” he said smoothly, leaning in just enough to make my heart s**p a beat. “But only if it’s what you want. I won’t do anything
don’t ask for.” you
“So, you won’t force me into doing anything if I say no?” I repeated it just to make it clear.
“Yes,” he answered briefly.
I was kind of relieved upon hearing that. But it was short-lived when I heard him speak again.
“But I can be very persuasive,” he said before claiming my lips without a warning.

The readers' comments on the novel: Betrayed by an Alpha claimed by a Lycan King (Sage and Titus)
Is it finished?...
...i mean...you had the perfect ending...why keep going?? ugh...i feel like author is going to continue with twists and turns [-_-]...
Don't mean to be rude but half the chapters are missing. As in your only publishing Half the chapter. Not all of it...
Would love more chapters...
ok just as a recap because i'm getting confused with this plot: sage (the daughter of the ex-alpha who was killed for betraying his pack) is contracted to marry the lycan king bc the present alpha doesn't want to give his own daughter to the king. sage sleeps with someone before the wedding (turns out to be the king). there's a caper at the palace where the king doesn't let her look at him bc he wants to keep her guessing for some reason but eventually she finds out that man she slept with is her husband now. there are other concubines and a queen but for some reason titus still doesn't have an heir despite being like thousands of years old. there is a prophecy that a red wolf will destroy the evil inside the king and when it comes to pass titus looks like he dies. sage runs away (she is the red wolf) bc shes scared of being called a killer. when she comes back titus has been manipulated to believe her "sister" is his mate. there's an intermission where sage runs away with her handmaiden to new york and they start a life for themselves. until titus buys out the company bc he's filthy rich and drags her back. the sister gets punished and jailed to be killed, but sage's intervention (due to her previous feelings for the brother) prevents her death. there's a point when the royal elders storm the castle and titus is jailed and almost at the point of death. taking the beta and her handmaiden they rescue titus and restore him to health. while sage was in new york, titus had somehow found his dead wife again (anna?) and she's very childlike and annoying. all the times sage saves titus doesn't matter because he's been deposed as king and brainwashed by his dead wife to believe she's everything to him. titus dissolves the bond between he and sage (bc of pressure from previous wife) but still has feelings for her and still sleeps with her while trying to reclaim his throne by making alliances with other werewolf packs. a bounty hunter offers his help but demands sage as the price. titus says no, but sage goes behind his back anyway and makes the deal. thinking titus is blinded by sage's presence that prevents him from forming alliance with a pack and having that alpha's daughter as his queen, she runs way with the bounty hunter and he puts her up for sale (she's an idiot for doing this). finding out she's pregnant with an accelerated pregnancy (due to blood moon sex?) she runs away from the auction house and is rescued by a couple who never had kids miles away from where she ran away. 3 years or so pass and she is happy with her chosen family until the bounty hunter finds her again and she goes with him to keep him away from her kids only to be rescued by titus at the auction house. he also finds her kids (bc they obvy would run away to find her) but she for some reason convinces them to lie and say they're not her kids. reunited again, they come across rogue wolves who hurt titus, but they somehow all fit into the helicopter that comes at the right time to save them all. titus while being gravely ill still saves sage from being sentenced to death, but now her kids are in danger....
ok now im reinvested! I hope the kids will be ok! titus now would be a good time to wake up!...
If possible, kindly change the title of the book too because Sage is suppose to be happy with Titus but this back and forth is making the book boring...
Please this has to stop , Titus is suppose to be her savior but she's going through too much...
This book really started good. And for whatever reason, the author keeps on adding boring and nonsensical twist to the story. I'm just skipping through chapters and story still the same.repeating issues and conflict and convo. So tiring. I'm just checking in hoping I can read the ending. Lolz...
We need an end soon. It getting boting and is so boring. Also people is missing. Were is her former maid and scott used to be her friend now he treat her like a stranger...
