Sofia’s pov
“I don’t care if you’re now towering over me. I’m your elder sister and whatever I say goes. I’m spending money on you today and that’s that.”
After I finished in the art room, I took a quick shower, not wanting to be late.
Angelo and I had agreed to meet at a large mall this afternoon, and I was feeling extremely excited to spend time with him today.
I dressed up in something really comfortable, opting for a pair of jeans shorts, a crop top with a large designer jacket over it. As I regarded myself in the floor length mirror, I knew this wasn’t exactly how the wife of the mafia lord was supposed to be dressing, but clearly Luca didn’t care, so why should any else care?
Once I was done, I made sure to grab my black card along with my other essentials in my little Gucci purse, and then I climbed down the stairs. The Chelsea boots I currently have on clanked against the stairs as I walked, and as i appeared in the entrance of the kitchen, watching as Matilda’s mouth dropped open, I knew I was undoubtedly going to be getting a whole lot of attention today.
As I exchanged a few words with them, I checked on Angelo to ensure that he was already about to leave the house as well.
When I made my way outside the house, nodding my head in thanks at Ethan who held the house door open for me, I glanced around the large expanse of the compound, noticing the car which I usually go out in driving towards me, by none but Ryan.
Clearly, he’s the one behind the wheels today.
I sank into the backseat, flashing a small smile at Ryan through the rear view mirror before Ethan sank into the passenger seat.
The traffic was thankfully very light, making the ride to the the mall a really smooth one.
As I alighted the car, I noticed Angelo instantly. He was standing behind a sleek looking Lamborghini, leaning against it a little while tapping away a little.
No one would be able to guess that he’s still a freaking a child. I was approaching him when my phone suddenly rang, making him snap his head up, making it obvious that he had been the one to call me right now.
A smile tugged at the side of his lip while an ear splitting grin popped out on my face as I closed the distance between us and hugged him tightly. His arms closed around me, making me reminisce back to the times when his hugs were all I knew, was all I could rely on.
Only that now, I wasn’t a little bit taller than him. Instead, he’s towering over me, even with the help of the Chelsea boots I currently have on.
“Wow, you look so good with curls.” He complimented and I grinned, running my fingers through the said curls.
“Thank you. And you look so good! Did you drive here on your own?” I asked as we began to head into the mall. Angelo let out an absent minded hum as he gave a nod of my head, making me stop walking.
“Angelo, that’s dangerous.” I pointed out, having different flashes of when bad things have befallen Luca and I, especially that one which had gotten Armani abducted.
Angelo snorted out a little laugh and a shrug. “Not really, it isn’t. I can hold my own in a fight now. And besides, people tend to stay far away from me because of my reputation in the fighting ring… so, I don’t think it’s as dangerous as you’re imagining it right now.”
I pursed my lips as he spoke, hating to admit that he does kind of have a point because the protective instincts was still very much alive in me. As he spoke, he sounded so confident, like someone who has been ambushed before and had made his way out effortlessly.
That was enough to make me wonder just what it is that Angelo actually goes through.
I reluctantly nodded my head, even though I clearly wasn’t pleased. That made Angelo let out a small laugh as he reached out and brushed my curls out of my face.
“Stop worrying your head off, Sofia. You’re still doing it, like you used to do throughout our childhood. All you do is worry yourself to death.”
“You know I can’t help it.” I mumbled.
A few moments of silence stretched out between us, and then Angelo nodded towards the inside of the mall.
“Let’s go in, I’ll get you whatever it is that you want.” He offered, making me shake myself out from the little bubble of memories that I had been trapped in moments ago to shoot him a glare.
“What? I’m the one spending on you today and not the other way round.” I said firmly, making my way deeper into the mall, with Angelo beside me, laughing a little.
“But, I wanna get you something really really nice, I don’t care its cost.” He argued.
“I’m the one getting you wherever you want today, Angelo. You shouldn’t waste the little you have unnecessarily, hm?” I said softly, meaning every word.
Angelo's face was blank for a few seconds, and then a small smile broke out on it, right before he spoke.
“I don’t have a little money, actually.”
I folded my hands. “Oh yeah? You have a lot?” I demanded and he nodded once.
“I actually do. I own the Lamborghini I came in, and I have a few more. I am kind of loaded, yeah…”
I blinked at him in shock, feeling extremely surprised because I had thought the car he came in was father’s.
“Wow. How did…”
“I fight in rings, remember?” He shrugged. “That fetches a whole lot of money.”
I pursed my lips, not liking what it is that I’m hearing. The fact that the fights earn him money would definitely make him extremely addicted to it, which would most definitely lead him to start smoking and doing whatever it is that the other fighters do. I didn’t like that at all, but I forced the words down, unsure of if he’d appreciate me revealing my disapproval right now.
“Anyways, that changes nothing.” I affirmed. “I’m spending on you today and that’s final.”
He tried to argue about it a little but ended up giving in after a little while.
His look awe when he noticed my black card made me giggle a little as I explained to him that Luca had one made for me the very next day after we got married.
I got Angelo a pair of diamond studs, one which looked a little bit familiar to one which Luca had gotten me. The price made me do a double take because I had no idea the diamonds had been that cost the whole time.
As I paid for the earrings and tried on a new pair of earrings which I got for myself, Angelo noted that I really am loaded to be spending this much without batting an eye. Feeling giddy, I revealed to him that Luca had demanded I spend the money in the card anyhow I wanted, and he’d have it refilled with millions of dollars as soon as it’s empty, making Angelo’s mouth fall open on a whistle.
Some time later, Angelo was in a crouch, helping me fix my shoe ropes when he asked me what one of my guards’ deal with me was, because he wouldn’t stop looking at me. I glanced up to notice that the said guard was Ryan, and a small smile tug at the side of my lips before facing Angelo once again.
“He’s just doing his job. He’s supposed to look after me and make sure I’m protected, remember?” I explained.
“He almost never looks away from you. Each time I look at him, his gaze is on you.” Angelo revealed as he pushed up to his feet. I shrugged my shoulders a little with a little laugh.
“Ryan’s just overprotective, that’s all.”
