Chapter 293 Consultation
Of Specialists
In Laura’s hospital room, Sadie was seated next to the bed, her fingers gently wrapped around Laura’s delicate hand, her face marked by both concern and fatigue.
Laura lay on the bed, her breathing even and her complexion looking much better than it had previously.
Alex, visibly relieved, said, “It was a close call this time. Fortunately, she’s fine.” He glanced at Sadie and added, “Sadie, you need some rest. Let me drive you home.”
Sadie gently shook her head. “No, thanks, Alex. I’d rather you go on without me. I’ll stay here with Grandma.”
Alex observed her tired expression, his face showing his worry.
In recent weeks, the strain had taken a toll on Sadie, evident from her noticeable weight loss.
“I’m okay,” Sadie said, mustering a smile to reassure him. “Please, go back. The Howe Group relies on you.”
Alex paused, clearly torn, but finally conceded.
“Okay. I’ll arrange for my cook to prepare some dishes and bring them here. You’ve lost too much weight. Look after yourself, Sadie.”
Sadie escorted Alex to the ward’s doorway. “Be careful on the road,” she cautioned him.
“Got it,” Alex replied, giving her a deep, meaningful look before he left.
As Sadie turned to head back into the room, her eyes landed on Laura, peacefully asleep. The sight stirred a whirlwind of emotions within her, the recent ordeals seemed almost too surreal, draining her both physically and emotionally.
At that moment, a nurse approached her. “Miss Hudson, there’s a delivery for you.”
Curiosity piqued, Sadie approached and accepted a thermal container from the nurse. “Someone just left this for you,” the nurse explained.
Hesitant, Sadie held the container, her face clouded with confusion.
Once inside the room again, she opened the container to reveal chicken broth, its hearty aroma filling the space. The familiar smell instantly transported her back to the kitchen of Myrtlewood Estate.
Why would the estate’s cook send her soup so unexpectedly?
The thought that Noah might be behind this briefly entered her mind, but she quickly pushed it aside.
Could Noah really show such kindness? That seemed far–fetched.
Their relationship had decayed into nothing more than enduring bitterness. What more was there to consider?

Sadie tightly held the thermal container, her heart heavy with confusion and anxiety.
The smell of chicken broth permeated the room, yet Sadie did not taste it, merely gripping the container until her knuckles
showed white.
She eventually set it aside on the nearby table and turned her attention to Laura, asleep with a calm expression. Waves of guilt crashed over her, overwhelming her emotions.
Her mother was missing, her grandmother was sick, and Sadie felt utterly impotent against their circumstances.
She pondered the overwhelming might of the Wall family, seemingly insurmountable adversaries, leaving her feeling defeated.
“Grandma…” Sadie’s voice faltered as she held Laura’s hand to her face. “I’m sorry. I feel so powerless…”
Her tears quietly wet Laura’s hand.
Just then, the ward door opened softly, and several unfamiliar doctors stepped in.
Dressed in pristine white coats, none were known to Sadie.
An elderly specialist leading them, distinguished by his silver hair and gold–rimmed glasses, exuded a sense of authority.
Sadie gazed up at them, her face reflecting her surprise.
“Good evening, Miss Hudson,” the specialist said warmly. “We’ve been assembled by the hospital as a specialist team to consult on your grandmother’s case.”
Startled, Sadie instinctively looked at their name tags.
“International Cardiology Association…”
“Mayo Clinic, Maradeiris…”
The prestige of each institution represented by the doctors left Sadie awestruck.
She quickly recognized these were leading global experts in cardiology.
As her surprise mingled with hope, she pondered a possibility.
Could Noah have arranged this?
She quickly dismissed the thought.
It seemed unlikely that Noah would extend such a gesture; he’d probably prefer her grandmother to be out of their lives.
