“Nanette, are you okay?” she asked, concern lacing her voice.

Kyla halted mid–stride, turning back with a glacial glare. Her voice was razor–sharp, each word laced with venom.

Nanette stood frozen, her mind spiraling. The weight of Kyla’s threat coiled around her like a vice.

observation–just in case of a concussion. Rest is crucial, and if you feel any discomfort, press the call button immediately.”

Alex gave a small nod. “Thank you, doctor.”

The doctor returned the nod, then exited the room, shutting the door behind him.
