Between Ruin And Resolve My Ex-Husband's Regret novel Chapter 521

Chapter 521 Entirely In Her  Hands

Then Sadie met Noah’s eyes–distant and unfamiliar as ever- and the glimmer of hope that had flared up in her chest fizzled out.

He still didn’t remember.

A wave of disappointment washed over Sadie and settled like a dead weight in the pit of her stomach. Her hand balled into a fist under the table, the only indication of her inner turmoil.

What had happened to Noah in the last three years? How did Hailey become his wife?

Sadie knew she couldn’t act recklessly before she knew the answers to these burning questions. She couldn’t tell him the truth just yet, especially with the glaring truth that loomed over them–the whole world knew that he and Hailey were married.

Would Noah even believe her if she tried to tell him the truth? Or would he simply think she was playing some tricks again?

Sadie lowered her gaze and let out a heavy sigh. “You’re reading into something that isn’t there, Mr. Noel. Perhaps it’s because you look so much like my late husband.”

She had more to say, but it was left unsaid as the door to the private room opened once again. The waitress waltzed in, tray in hand, and began to serve the dishes.

“Your food is here. Please enjoy.”

There was Köttbullar, pot roast, sautéed shrimp, ham and bean soup and caramelized apples.

As the familiar dishes were placed on the table one by one, the room was filled with a delightful aroma.

Sadie sighed to herself in relief. The dangerous line of their conversation had been successfully averted.

She smiled and picked up a piece of ham, putting it on Noah’s plate. She didn’t notice the flicker of disappointment in his eyes.

“You should try this, Mr. Noel. It’s the house specialty.” Sadie tried to keep her tone as light and calm as possible. Afraid

that Noah would resume what the waitress had interrupted, she quickly shifted their discussion back to work. “By the way,

have you gone over the documents Samuel sent over this afternoon? About the piece of land in the east of the city? Like I

said, it’s an ideal location–sitting between the city and the suburbs. It’s very accessible, and the land area is impressive,

too. I think it’s worth considering.”

When she said this, her tone was more brisk, more businesslike.

Noah silently picked up his fork and took a piece of ham. The flavor was excellent.

He took another bite, and found himself pausing mid–chew.

It tasted somewhat familiar, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on why. He put his fork down, not dwelling on the matter for a second longer.

When he looked up, his expression had returned to its usual indifference.

“The land will be taken into consideration. In fact, I’m leaving the bidding entirely in your hands, Ms. Hudson.”

Sadie had already prepared an outline of the advantages of purchasing the land, and was just about to continue when his words registered. She blinked at him, visibly taken aback.

He would leave it entirely to her?

Everything, from the bidding to the construction of the factory, was imperative for the Burgess Group’s operations, yet he was going to entrust it all to her?
