Jane ushered Sarah into her room and was about to bring her slippers when the other party walked over to the table very naturally. "Jeffery's appetite is very picky. I used to cook for him. He likes my cooking the most."
Jane didn't say anything. She followed her and saw Sarah tasting the dishes with chopsticks. She even said, "No, these dishes are not what Jeffery likes to eat. This dish is too salty. This one too, and what's this? The meat was overcooked, how can we eat it?"
Sarah frowned from beginning to end, and spat out after one dish. She tasted all the dishes made by Jane, and finally turned her head with dissatisfaction and looked at Jane up and down like a hostess.
Looking at Jane's face, she frowned more tightly and said unhappily. "What's wrong with you? Didn't Nanny Wu and Aldred tell you about Jeffery's hobbies and taste? Why are you a nanny? You don't know how to cook."
"I'm sorry, I am the secretary of Mr. Jones. The housemaid has asked for leave these days. I am here to take care of Mr. Jones's life." Jane did not tell Sarah that she lived here. She did not know if this woman was important to Jeffery, but she did not want to cause any misunderstanding or trouble.
"Forget it. Let me do it. I know what Jeffery likes best."
Sarah said as she poured all the food that Jane had prepared into the trash can. Then she went into the kitchen and did not forget to greet Jane. "Don't just stand there and learn to eat. Otherwise, if I'm not with you, you can't even take care of Jeffery's daily life."
Jane stared at the dropped dishes without saying anything. She silently walked into the kitchen, stood behind Sarah, watching her skillful and elegant operation.
Jane didn't know whether it was because of her pride, but she felt that she was like an ugly duckling. She was so elegant even when cooking, how could she compare with her?
No matter what aspects, she was unable to compare with Sarah. She might be just a substitute that Jeffery was looking for. Otherwise, she really could not figure out why Jeffery was so good to her for no reason.
"Jeffery has a light-flavor, so you can't put too much salt in his dishes. He doesn't like sweet foods as well, so don't cook sweet potatoes, such as the stir-fried potato you made." As Sarah busied herself with cooking, she did not forget to tell Jane about Jeffery's preferences.
Jane felt uncomfortable when she heard this, but she still pretended to be serious. She couldn't help but ask, "Miss. Crowe has a good relationship with Mr. Jones, and you knows Mr. Jones's preferences so well."
Sarah turned and gave Jane a radiant smile. It was particularly dazzling in Jane's eyes. Even with Sarah's following words, Jane felt like she was showing off.
"Yes, I have a good relationship with Jeffery. He is willing to do anything for me. Every time I make him unhappy, he won't be angry with me as long as I act coquettishly."
Jane felt more and more panicked and unconsciously clenched her fists.
She felt more and more like a substitute. She had already been inferior and sensitive in this relationship, and now she would not like to listen to it.
Just as she was about to find an excuse to turn around and leave, there was a sound of door-opening. It seemed that Jeffery had returned.
Just as she was about to go out to welcome them, Sarah, who was beside her, had already stepped out of the kitchen. She trotted to the door to welcome him. "Jeffery, you're back. I've been waiting for you for a long time."
As soon as Jeffery entered the door, he saw Sarah, and his face instantly cooled down. He put the food bag aside and looked behind Sarah, and found that Jane was standing still in the distance.
Jane looked at Sarah, who came over and held Jeffery's arm. Jeffery just glanced and didn't mean to refuse her. The two stood together, looking like a perfect match.
Looking at this scene, Jane suddenly felt sad, as if her heart had been pricked by needles.
"What are you doing here?"
