Chapter 12 

It was soon 7:45 p.m. Inside the hall, people were drinking, laughing, and chatting, a scene of harmony and joy, but on the second floor, everyone in the Taylor family looked very anxious. 

Amelia was so anxious that her face turned red. She couldn’t care less about her manners and took out her cell phone to dial Abigail’s number over and over again. 

She shouted inwardly, “What time is it? Where is she?” 

The dinner party started at eight o’clock, and at that time, Liam would lead Olivia down from the second floor. 

But now it was already 7:45, and Olivia was nowhere to be seen. 

On the other side, Abigail watched Amelia’s consecutive incoming calls on her cell phone, and her lips were almost bleeding from biting. She didn’t dare to answer it, and even if she did, she didn’t know how to explain Olivia’s disappearance. Was she supposed to say that she had accidentally crashed her car and left Olivia alone at the subway station? If she said so, Amelia would definitely kill her. 

Amelia might not pay attention to some of the minutiae or some small tricks. But any wealthy noblewoman had a dedicated car and would not take the subway when traveling unless there was an urgent matter. 

It was a serious dereliction of duty to let Olivia, who was well–groomed and not very mobile in her gown, take the subway. 

When Amelia learned of this, she would definitely fire Abigail, and Abigail wouldn’t even be able to stay at the Taylor Group. 

Looking at the constantly vibrating cell phone, Abigail eventually broke down emotionally. She crouched on the floor and cried. 

Then, she picked up the phone, shivering. 

“Abigail, why don’t you answer the phone?” Amelia’s questioning came from the other side of the phone. 

It was the first time that the gentle and elegant noblewoman was angry. “Mrs. Taylor,” Abigail wiped her tears as she said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t find Miss Olivia.”

out of her cell phone and question her on how she was doing her job. But now was not the time to hold Abigail accountable but to find Olivia as soon as possible. 

Amelia barely suppressed her anger and tried to soften her tone as much as she could. “Tell me. What on earth is going on?” 

William, standing right next to Amelia, saw his mother’s unsteady mood and stepped forward to take the phone. 

Then, he said to the phone, “Explain!” 

Abigail’s emotion that she had managed to suppress instantly collapsed when she heard the warm and calm male voice coming from the other end of the line. 

She thought, “It’s Mr. William!” 

William’s beautiful eyebrows gently wrinkled as he heard the crying sounds over the phone, and his slender fingers tapped twice on the cell phone as he asked, “Where are you?” 

His voice was gentle and calm, carrying a stabilizing power that instantly soothed Abigail’s emotions. 

“I… am at Hintsign Intersection,” she replied. 

“Got it.” William nodded before signaling his assistant at the side to go over immediately. 

Standing in the center of the room, William was upright and elegant, his every move displaying an imposing aura of calm and stability. 

Looking at him, the rest of the Taylor family instantly calmed down as if they had a backbone. 

William switched the phone to his other hand and asked, “What time did Olivia disappear?” 

“Ten past seven,” Abigail replied. 

“Why did she get out of the car, and which direction did she go?” 

Abigail bit her lip. “The car broke down, and Miss Olivia went to take the subway.” 

“The subway?” William confirmed. “That means you let her out of the car and went to take the subway alone, right?” 

Hearing this, Abigail instantly paled and immediately explained, “I… I have to fix the car.”

with it afterward?” Since no one got injured, it meant that it was not a serious car accident. There were many ways to deal with that, but Abigail. chose the most unsuitable one. 

Given William’s intelligence, he did not have to listen to a long–winded narrative to make a judgment. Only a few points were enough. 

This incident was a terrible dereliction of duty on Abigail’s part! 

William didn’t know Abigail very well, but she had been at Amelia’s side for years without making a mistake, so obviously, she wouldn’t have made such a dumb mistake. 

And for this to go wrong, either she had a brain fade, or she had done it on purpose. 

Realizing this, William changed his tone. His originally gentle and calm voice sharpened and became aggressive. “Who told you to set up Olivia? Who else was involved in this matter? You’d better confess as soon as possible. If something happens to Olivia, think about what will happen to you.” 

His tone was extremely harsh in the last sentence. 

Abigail could not withstand William’s questioning and explained everything immediately. 

William frowned when he heard Grace’s name. Then, he turned to look at the person behind Emma. 

Grace’s legs went limp as she sensed William’s gaze. She waved her hands. repeatedly and said, “It’s not me. It has nothing to do with me. I don’t know where Miss Olivia went. I was just letting her take the subway.” “Is Grace involved?” thought Amelia. 

She looked over in shock, her eyes subconsciously falling on Emma. Emma was quick to react and immediately avoided Amelia’s gaze. At the same time, she turned to Grace and looked at her with a look of shock and disbelief. “Grace, why did you ask Olivia to take the subway? She’s wearing a gown. It’s inconvenient.” 

Hearing the word gown, Grace instantly calmed down. This matter could be a big deal or a small one. It could be handled as a joke or as if she had an evil intention and was setting up Olivia. 

The key was how she explained it. 

Emma’s words reminded her, so Grace hurriedly explained, “It’s my bad. I want Miss Olivia to make a fool of herself because she has been bullying

After hearing this, Amelia was anxious and angry. Pointing at Grace, she couldn’t say anything for a good while. 

She thought, “This is too nonsensical. How can she make this kind of joke?” 

Knowing that she had dispelled Amelia’s suspicion, Emma raised her eyes and quietly swept a glance at William. Seeing his dark face and not uttering a word, Emma felt heavy in her heart and knew that this matter could not be settled so easily. 

Therefore, Emma immediately said, “You’ve made a big mistake in this matter, so I can’t keep you around anymore. But now the priority is to find Olivia. I’ll pursue your responsibility later.” 

It was about to be eight o’clock, and the Taylor family members couldn’t stay upstairs any longer. They had to hurry down. They had to calm down the guests and explain why Olivia didn’t show up. 

Because the Taylor family’s people had all gone upstairs, some people in the banquet hall had already started to discuss and speculate if something had happened. 

It was close to eight o’clock, and it was strange that Olivia and the rest of the Taylor family didn’t show up. 

Ethan stayed away from the crowd and sat on a chair in the corner of the doorway, looking lazy. He held a highball glass in his hand, shaking it from time to time, watching the red wine inside ripple in a circle.
