Chapter 2 

“Slap!” A crisp and loud sound echoed in the room. 

Olivia had always been working out. Her action was swift, and she could control her strength with concentration and precision. 

With this slap, Emma’s cheeks were instantly swollen like steamed bread. 

It all happened too fast and too sudden for the people present to react. 

When everyone came back to their senses, Olivia was already standing aside and looking down at her wrist. 

Amelia was the first to come back to her senses and threw herself on Emma at the first moment, looking at Emma’s cheek with a worried expression. Then, she repeatedly ordered the servants to fetch ice. 

Hearing the repeated instructions, Samuel also came back to his senses. He looked at Emma’s swollen cheeks first, then turned his head, narrowed his eyes, and looked at Olivia. 

A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes. 

“What!” David was the last to realize the situation. He pounced toward Olivia like a violent lion, trying to skin Olivia alive. 

This teenager had always been arrogant. As the youngest child in the family, he was doted on by his parents and sister. Because of his wealthy family and handsome face, he was very sought after outside. Men and women liked to follow him. 

There was no standard of not hitting women in his vocabulary. When someone made him unhappy, he would make that person and his whole family unhappy. 

Now that Olivia had beaten his gentle and kind sister, he would definitely avenge his sister. 

“You are courting death!” David tried to slap Olivia. 

Olivia raised her hand and grabbed him by the wrist.

David frowned and looked up at Olivia.

Samuel had been calmly watching David pounce on Olivia earlier. Only when David was restrained by Olivia and pushed aside did he wrinkle his brows and say coldly, “Why did you hit Emma?” 

Olivia touched her fingertips and raised her eyes. The corners of her mouth turned up slightly to a beautiful smile. 

It was the first smile she had since arriving at the Taylor family. 

Standing in the center of the living room, she had a gorgeous face. Her skin was beautifully tanned. Her deep eyes were like a pool of water. She looked a little cold when she was not smiling, and her temperament was as cool as water. But when she smiled, the little dimples on her cheeks were revealed, adding a touch of cuteness. 

She raised her eyes slightly, mimicking their words slowly as she said, “I didn’t want to hit her. She took the liberty of doing it. It has nothing to do with me! Besides, she is okay, and she is not dead. We’re a family. Let’s forget about this matter.” 

She was clearly mocking them. 

“You!” Samuel got angry and was about to reprimand Olivia. 

Emma suddenly spoke up in a timid voice, “Dad, don’t be angry. It’s all my fault. I made the wrong decision and almost hurt Olivia. She should beat me to vent her anger.”

When she saw Olivia’s eyebrows similar to hers, Amelia realized at that moment that Olivia was indeed her own daughter, the daughter she had lost for 18 years. 

As a rich lady, Amelia had very sharp eyes and could tell at a glance that the clothes on Olivia were ordinary brands, and her hands were not like Emma’s. Emma’s fingers were slender, delicate, and fair because she never had to do chores.
