Chapter 29 

Olivia’s life assistant had been set up for her a while ago. But she didn’t need the assistant’s services since she was living and dining at school these past few days. 

However, with a planned meeting with Andrew the next day, she reached out to her assistant in advance. 

The assistant, Susan, was a short–haired girl with a round face. She exuded efficiency and professionalism. 

The following morning, Susan arrived early, bringing along breakfast and a selection of gifts. 

Olivia didn’t get a chance to discuss gifts since they reached out quite late the previous day, and the mall stores were already shut. However, Susan, always thoughtful, brought along some toys perfect for boys around four or five. 

This thoughtful gesture pleasantly surprised Olivia, especially since she was uncertain what to gift Andrew. 

“Thank you,” Olivia expressed. 

A hint of shyness appeared on Susan’s face, contrasting her usual confident demeanor. 

She resembled a young girl receiving praise from an elder. 

“Haha, I got a compliment from the legend!” she mused. 

Although Susan wasn’t a top performer academically, she held a deep admiration for high achievers. She had heard tales of Olivia’s accomplishments at their company and was aware that the “Charm” brand wouldn’t exist without Olivia. This admiration for Olivia was profound. 

Securing the role as the legend’s assistant was a testament to Susan’s determination and efforts.

To many, these achievements might sound distant and somewhat vague. Many renowned scientists have impressive profiles on platforms like Wikipedia. But the employees at “Charm” had witnessed firsthand just how remarkable Olivia truly was. 

The company’s lab had been trying to use yeast substances to create a facial mask that was both safe and effective at refining pores. However, they always fell short. If they prioritized safety, the effectiveness was compromised. If they focused on effectiveness, the safety was inadequate, leading to potential skin damage with long–term use.

A team of top domestic and international cosmetics experts had been researching for half a year without success. They were on the brink of abandoning the mask project. 

It was the CEO who insisted on bringing Olivia into the mix. She spent ess than three days in the lab and resolved the problem. 

The top experts were left in awe. Some, feeling challenged, tried to contest Olivia’s findings. Yet, within half an hour, they were intellectually outmatched and conceded defeat. 

From then on, everyone at “Charm” hoped Olivia would join the company lab more frequently.

As Olivia organized documents at her desk, Susan grew.restless. She didn’t dare make much noise since the house was compact, with the living room doubling as a study. Olivia was right next to the living room. Susan was cautious about making any noise that might disturb her. However, sitting still was becoming unbearable. Susan kept glancing over at Olivia, thinking that with her proficiency in English, she might be able to assist Olivia with her documentation. 

After all, Susan was quite skilled in English during her school days. Her spoken English was fluent, and her written skills were impeccable. She even translated numerous novels and TV shows during her college years. With that thought, she cautiously approached. “Olivia, let me help you with the translation.” After saying this, her gaze fell on the documents on the table, and her previously confident eyes instantly dimmed. 

What are these? She didn’t recognize any of it! 

Without looking up, Olivia pulled out a few documents and handed them over, “Do you know French or German? Choose one.” 

Susan looked taken aback, her confidence replaced by a sudden uncertainty. 

Could she take back what she just said? 

Seeing her silence, Olivia glanced up, understanding immediately. She smiled, “You can rest over there. I’ll handle this. It’ll be quick.” 

With Olivia being so gentle, Susan grew bolder. She curiously looked at the documents and sheepishly said, “I thought they were in English.” “Many have been translated into English,” Olivia nodded, “but I prefer reading the original versions.” 

Every language has its nuances. Translations sometimes introduce slight errors, so Olivia always preferred the most original versions. 

Susan looked closer and noticed at least three to four different languages.

She couldn’t help but ask, “Olivia, how many languages do you speak?” Olivia pondered for a moment, “Around seven or eight. There are a few I’ve only recently started learning, so I’m not very fluent in them yet.” That’s incredible! Susan was at a loss for words. Are all scientists this talented? 

She felt proud just knowing English and occasionally liked to show off. Yet Olivia, who knew so many languages, never boasted about it. “Olivia, do you have any good learning methods?” Susan wanted to pick up some tips from her. 

With Olivia being so busy in the lab and still finding time to learn languages, she must have had some special learning techniques. Method? 

Olivia didn’t really have one. She just learned systematically and naturally. After a moment of thought, she replied, “Memorize vocabulary.” 

That’s straightforward. 

However, memorizing vocabulary is hard. Susan asked again, “Olivia, do you have a good method for memorizing vocabulary?” 

Olivia nodded. Others had asked her the same question before. 

Susan was thrilled. Finally, she could learn a suitable method. 

She waited eagerly.
