Chapter 6

It was already midnight when Olivia stepped out of the laboratory. Despite her good physical condition, she had been staying up for several days and was starting to feel the strain. Dark circles were visible under her eyes. Her lips were dry and cracked, and she looked like a dried vegetable that had lost all its moisture, desiccated and withered. Fortunately, her natural attributes, such as her body shape and bone structure, were all standard features of a stunning beauty. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to endure such a relentless routine of sleeplessness and hard work. 

At noon, Liam gave her a call, asking her to come back home when she had some free time. 

Initially, she planned on going back after finishing the experiment today. However, it was already too late at this point. 

“Forget it! I’ll go back tomorrow morning,” she said inwardly. 

While walking outside, she bumped into a senior student from the same advisor. 

Seeing Olivia, the senior student hurriedly approached her and asked, “Hey, Olivia, are you planning on doing an early pursuit of your Ph.D.?” 

Olivia nodded and said, “Yeah, it’s already been decided.” 

“Who is your supervisor?” When Olivia announced her early enrollment. for her Ph.D., the senior student felt a bit envious. Ever since Olivia entered the college, she had been an all–star, outshining all the other top students before her. She only spent two years on her undergraduate degree and two years on her master’s degree, and now, at the age of 23, she was about to start her Ph.D. studies. 

“Professor Owen.” 

“Professor Owen?” The senior student exclaimed, “Do you mean Professor Lewis Owen?” 

Olivia nodded in agreement. 

“Oh my goodness, impressive!” exclaimed the senior student. Professor Lewis Owen was a renowned figure in their field of research, greatly respected both domestically and internationally. 

It was said that Professor Owen rarely took on doctoral students unless they were exceptionally talented.

The senior student wanted to inquire more about Professor Owen, but Olivia had already spotted Amelia waiting at the campus gate. 

She paused her steps for a moment and said to the senior student, “Excuse me. Someone is coming to pick me up. I’ll take my leave.” After speaking, she quickened her pace and walked toward Amelia. Amelia was standing next to the car, staring absentmindedly at the campus entrance. When Olivia approached her, she greeted Olivia with a tender smile and said, “Olivia, I didn’t even know that you are so capable. You’re actually a graduate student at Ember University. I heard from your grandfather that you scored 1500 on the SAT.” 

“Is a score of 1500 considered capable?” said Olivia inwardly. 

Following Amelia’s gaze, Olivia casually glanced at the gate behind her and wondered, “If Amelia knew that I had been admitted by the Royal Medical College with a score of 1580 on my first SAT, would she think I’m even more capable?” 

On the way back, Amelia mentioned Linda to Olivia. “Olivia, since you haven’t been exposed to the etiquette of high society, you probably need help understanding these things. To help you feel at ease during the banquet, I have arranged for an etiquette teacher named Linda Foster. She is excellent and one of the best teachers in this field.” 

“Thank you,” Olivia said in a calm tone, her expression remaining unchanged. 

Without feeling embarrassed for not having the etiquette of the nobility nor feeling excited about entering high society soon, she displayed a calm and collected demeanor as if it were an ordinary matter. 

Upon seeing this, Amelia was greatly surprised. 

Throughout, she had always believed that her daughter, who went missing for 18 years, would live in hardship, unable to sustain three meals a day or receive a good education and lacking the elegant and graceful temperament of a fine lady. 

However, Olivia’s performance surprised her greatly today. 

Olivia was not only beautiful but also intelligent. Despite lacking excellent educational resources, she was still able to enter one of the top universities in the country. What was even more important was that she

carried herself with frankness and efficiency, entirely on par with high–born ladies, whether in speech, conduct, or manners. 

She had already surpassed the masses by having such a calm and composed demeanor. 

Upon returning to the Taylor family, Olivia quickly washed up before going to bed. 

Having missed several nights of sleep, she decided to make up for it properly. 

After a sound sleep, Olivia woke up when the sun was already high in the sky, close to noon. She got up, quickly freshened up, and went downstairs to the dining room. 

“Miss Olivia, what would you like to have, exotic or traditional cuisine?” The servants had been preparing her meals while she was still in bed As a prestigious family like the Taylor family, the servants were good–mannered, reaching a five–star standard. They were not like the portrayal in novels or TV dramas, where they were often depicted as either overly respectful toward the rich or disrespectful toward the poor. 

They were all just working to make a living. Nobody cared if Olivia was the real or fake daughter. 

At most, they would have a private discussion behind closed doors. 

“Do you have any sandwiches?” Olivia was accustomed to eating such simple and convenient food. As a busy student who also worked as a consultant for the Charm brand under the international group, Olle Group, she had very little time. Having meals was like a war against time. 

She was planning to take several sandwiches back and eat while reading literature in her room. 

Before Olivia could receive the chef’s response, Emma walked in from the doorway and said, “Hi, Olivia!” 

She smiled at Olivia. 

Emma’s appearance was different from that of the Taylor family members. Her looks resembled her biological mother, Evelyn, with a delicate and pure demeanor that was reminiscent of a man’s favorite face. from their youth. 

However, Emma did not like her appearance. 

If she were from an average family, this appearance would have some 

advantages, as she could still marry into a wealthy family. However, as a
