Billionaire's Pregnant Ex-wife novel Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Ash landed on the floor, groaning in pain, blood leaking from the grievous wound in his right shoulder. He thrashed and cursed under his breath as he struggled to stop the bleeding, but the pressure he applied wasn’t enough to stem the crimson liquid from flowing.

All the while, my hawksharp eyes remained fixed on him. Just in case he tried to attack or escape, I’d shoot himnot in the shoulder this time, but somewhere more fatal so he wouldn’t be able to move again. My fingers were cold and shaking, yet I didn’t move the gun away from him for a second, fearing he would take the chance to grab the weapon from me and reverse the situation.

Untie yourself, Grey,I told him. My eyes remained locked on Ash as I removed the ring from my finger and tossed it to where Grey was seated. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him pick up the ring, push the button, and the dagger popped up. He began to cut the rope with the small dagger. Damn, how did you manage to cut the rope with this?he

mumbled under his breath as he continued to cut.

Cursing under his breath, Ash forced himself to get up using his uninjured arm. I wasn’t

taking any chances and kicked him right in the chest before he could even ease himself up.

He screamed in a mixture of pain and fury as he fell back to the floor with a loud thud. Move an inch and I will blow your head off with this gun,I told him, my face devoid of

expression. He looked at me for a moment, as though weighing whether I was bluffing. He must have seen the grave seriousness in my face, for he stopped moving.

Grey finally cut through the rope and freed himself. He rose from the floor and moved his wrists in circular motions to let the blood flow more smoothly. Damn! I couldn’t feel my wrists. After stretching his hands, he cracked his knuckles. Once he felt better, he strode to where Ash was lying, grabbed him by the collar, and punched him in the face. You bastard! You gave me the greatest scare of my life when you pointed the gun at Lily! No one points a gun at my wife and gets away with it unscathed. After saying those words, he smashed his fists into Ash’s jaw over and over until his lips swelled and bled.

I grabbed the long extra rope I found on the floor and tossed it to Grey after Ash fell limp. Tie him up, Grey. He can’t move in that condition, but we can’t be sure he won’t suddenly go berserk.Grey grabbed the rope I tossed him, turned Ash face down on the floor, and looped the rope tightly around his wrists, making sure he wouldn’t be able to untie them without a knife. When he finished, Grey left Ash for a moment, and when he returned, he was carrying a monoblock chair.

Grey grabbed Ash from the floor and lifted him easily using both hands as though he didn’t weigh a thing, placing his limp body in the chair before tying him to it with another rope. Ash was surprisingly still conscious at this point, even though he looked totally exhausted and drained of his strength. Move aside, Grey. I have some business to discuss with your delusional stepbrother.

Let me handle this, Lily,he said gently, but when I looked him straight in the eye without

any

emotion on my face, he stopped and obediently followed my order. He stepped aside, and I crossed the distance between me and Ash. I pulled to a stop in front of him and, in a demanding and authoritative voice, asked, Where is my son, Ash?The words were soft yet threatening.

There’s no way I will tell you where he is,he replied smugly.

Bang! The sound of a gunshot reverberated in the room, making both men flinch in

surprise.

The next shot goes to your brain if you don’t tell me where my son is.I gripped him by the collar and looked straight into his eyes. Talk!I hissed, pressing the muzzle of the gun against his forehead.

No one can mess with me when my son is involved, I thought to myself. At that moment, I

felt no fear at allonly desperation to see my son, Dylan.

Hhe wwas iin tthe ccar ttrunk iin tthe bbackyard,Ash sputtered in fear.

If I discover you did something to my son, when I return, I will pull the goddamn trigger in your head.

I handed the gun to Grey and skittered to the door.

I swear II didn’t do anything tto him. Hhe wwas still alive!Ash shouted after me. Before I rushed out the door, I could hear exactly what Grey had said. Ash had just peed in

his pants

He should be telling the truth, I thought to myself. If I discovered he was lying, I’d make another hole in his body where he would be drained dry of all the fluid he had in him.

With the aid of the moonlight, I managed to find my way out through the kitchen door and reached the backyard in no time. True to his word, I saw the black Porsche Ash owned. My heart was in my throat as I walked toward the car. My footsteps felt heavy and small, and

reaching the car seemed to take an hour.

What if Ash was lying? What if he’d done something to Dylan? What if he was dead? A dozen questions raced through my mind as I lifted the car trunk open. I immediately saw the unmoving, thin body curled inside.

A sob tore from my throat as I reached for his hand. It was cold. Fear slammed hard inside

  1. me. My chest felt tight, and at that moment, I could barely breathe as I felt for a pulse, searching for a tiny sign of life.

Dylan, Mom’s here,I whimpered, lifting the small, frail body out of the cramped car trunk. I slumped onto the floor while still cradling my son in my arms.

Mom is here, Dylan,I said in a hoarse whisper, pulling him even closer to warm his body.

Sobbing, I reached for his hand and prayed to God that he was still alive while probing for his pulse.

The sound of police sirens mingled with the loud cry of an approaching ambulance, tearing through the night’s silence.
