Chapter 29

He paused, then added, “You can sit in my car, and I will drive.” He offered, but I shook my head. I would rather drive my own car than sit next to him in a small space.
“I will drive my car. You can follow me if you like. Finality rang in my tone when I said the words. Grey opened his mouth to argue but changed his mind. “Okay,” he curtly replied, letting me go. Without delay, took the chance to climb into my car and locked the door. Out of the comer of my eye, I saw Grey turn toward where he had parked his car. With a quick, long stride, he reached it and climbed inside,
1 secured my seatbelt before turning the ignition on. The engine roared to life, and I maneuvered the car onto the highway. As expected, Grey’s car trailed
behind me.
The hospital where Mom was admitted was a thirty–minute drive away from the house, but in less than twenty minutes, I reached the hospital. Alter parking my car in the parking area, I clambered out and skittered toward the expansive building
Grey was still parking his car when I left him, but i was almost at the entrance when he caught up with me. “You shouldn’t be driving like that.” He leaned closer and whispered the words in my ear. There was nothing gentle in his voice; he sounded like a stern father scolding his child for bad behavior
“There’s nothing wrong with my driving. I glared at him.
“Your driving is not the problem. Your speed is,” he replied. When I threw him a sideways glance, I noticed the deep furrows on his forehead. He looked
worried.
Grey worried about me? That’s incredulous, I thought to myself
“I’m driving under normal speed,” I reasoned as we both entered t the hospital.
“You call that normal speed?” He hissed under his breath. “I’m surprised no police officer chased after your car
attention Twas about to bite back a reply when we reached the information desk. All the things wanted to throw at him burst like bubbles. I focused my on the nurse who rose from her chair as she politely asked, “How may help you, ma’am? The nurse gazed at me for a second before her eyes shifted to Grey, who was standing behind me like a bodyguard. The nurse’s gaze lingered on his face, and bold admiration shone in her eyes as she did so
Grey always captivates attention wherever he goes. Ithought to myself rather irritably. There’s something about him that makes him stand out, even in the middle of a crowd. I sighed as I watched the nurse, who continued to look at him as though she were under some kind of spell.
“Can you tell me where Mrs. De Silva’s room is?” I spoke, and she snapped out of her trance. Embarrassed, she let her gaze drop to the computer screen in front of her. After some typing on the keyboard and a few clicks of the mouse, she raised her head to me. “Room number eight. Walk straight ahead, enter the first corridor you will see, and you will find her room, she instructed while pointing in the direction we should go.
“Thank you
sight.
