After hanging up the phone, Charlotte almost sped to the Gilt Bronze Café.
She followed the instruction she had received to a table and saw a slender man wearing a cap sitting by the table. Half of his face was concealed purposefully by the cap he was wearing.
The man looked upwards and saw Charlotte who was also wearing sunglasses and a cap. He curled his lips into a smile, “Miss Garcia, we are quite in tune with each other.”
Charlotte kept her head low as she pulled a chair for herself. Then, she broached the subject directly, “Sir, I have a prerequisites before signing the contract. If my families were found, please keep it a secret and assure them safe.”
Once this matter was exposed, she couldn’t imagine what would Evelyn do to her father and brother.
The man laughed lightly, “This smells like trouble.”
Charlotte pursed her lips and pushed for the bank card containing the remaining two million yuan.
“I implore you.”
The man stood up and took the bank card and pocketed it.
“This is the first time I have seen someone pay me the full amount upfront. Seeing that you are so trusting in me, Miss Garcia, I will find your family for you.”
“But keep in mind that this is no simple business. I need time, so…”
With a loud slap, Charlotte slammed the bank card containing one million yuan onto the table.
She bore her reddened eyes at the man and punctuated her words, “You have at most a week. I don’t want to wait for one more day.”
…
Half an hour later, Charlotte and the man left the café one after the other, and the two of them remained drooped as they disappeared into the stream of people walking on the street.
At a corner of the street which was close to the café, a black car was parked silently.
Allison was seated in the backseat as she narrowed her eyes in the direction where Charlotte had left. Her mouth curled into a cold smile.
After a moment, someone hurriedly pulled the car door and entered the back seat.
“Miss, the opposition party is a famous detective whose expertise is finding people. He only focuses on finding missing people as his source of income. Charlotte has contacted him because she wants to look for her father and younger brother who are currently missing.”
Upon hearing that, Allison felt very surprised.
“Finding missing people? Aren’t her father and brother staying overseas now? Or could it be that her stepmother…”
A slight crease formed on Allison’s forehead as she left her words hanging. After a moment of silence, she came back to her senses and a strange smile took over her face.
“So that’s how it is.”
“Miss, do you need me to assign another person to investigate Charlotte thoroughly?”
“No need for that.”
Allison shook her head.
“Lawrence has found a new blood donor, so I don’t need to waste energy on that matter anymore. The only imminent problem is to settle once and for all his ex which is a bother so that in the future I can be his wife without any problems.”
“Find someone to tail that man. Whatever he discovers, I need to know all information sooner than Charlotte.”
