Early the next morning, Caroline and Sonia set off for the audition. The audition was being held at the International Center for Dramatic Arts. 

Helena didn’t show up. Sonia felt very awkward about it. She said, “Caroline, let me call Helena.” 

“Alright.” 

Caroline could guess why Helena hadn’t come. However, she didn’t say anything about it. She only watched as Sonia walked off. 

After walking a distance from Caroline, Sonia finally dialed Helena’s number. “Helena, why aren’t you here yet? The audition will be starting soon.” 

Helena replied, “Things will be the same whether I’m there or not. The role belongs to Daphne Dawson, anyway.” 

After a pause, she continued, “Sonia, you have to trust me. If you come back now, we can still get that TV show in the bag.” 

“Helena-” 

“Enough,” Helena said, cutting Sonia off. 

“After so many years working with you, I know your character. You won’t give up before you run into a few dead ends. 

“I don’t want to say too much more, but I will say this. If you fail this time, you have to listen to me about every work thing after this.” 

Sonia’s brows scrunched together. “Helena …” 

“Look. Even you know that you won’t get this role. I really don’t understand why you have to get involved.” 

“It’s not that, Helena-” 

“Don’t say anything more.” Helena interrupted again. 

“It’s settled. If you don’t get this role, I’ll set up all your next jobs.” 

Sonia kept silent.

Helena sighed and ended the call. 

Seeing Sonia put down her phone in dejection, Caroline could guess what had happened. She 

silently looked away. 

Yet, as she did so, her eyes coincidentally met Daphne’s. Nausea rose within her again. 

Caroline clenched her fists tightly as she held back the wave of disgust. 

Daphne had also seen Caroline. Seeing her standing there, unaffected, rage sprang up within her. 

Daphne had only found out that Jane’s plan had failed after those people had been arrested. The 

repeated failures made them exercise caution when dealing with Caroline. 

However, the hatred Daphne felt for Caroline had only increased after these failures. 

Now that she was seeing Caroline here, Daphne really wanted to go forward and slap Caroline to 

vent her rage. 

But she couldn’t! 

Today, Marietta was here for an audition, and there were journalists everywhere. If there was even 

one photo of her misbehaving, it would make a huge splash in the news everywhere. 

Thus, Daphne had to hold herself back. She clenched her fists.
