Eddy sounded so surprised that his tone snapped Caroline out of her daze. 

She looked at him strangely. “Why are you so surprised? It’s not like this is your first time hearing 

this.” 

Eddy froze. “Does she make things difficult for you all the time?” 

His question made Caroline laugh out loud. “Don’t tell me you don’t know about this. 

“You know fairly well that she pretended to be sick just so she could get one of my kidneys. I’m not buying it if you tell me that you don’t know about it.” 

“I asked her to apologize to you for that,” Eddy explained. 

“She did that because Grandpa forced me to marry you back then-” 

“Is that a valid reason for her to hurt someone else? So I have the right to kill someone because of something, then?” 

Caroline stared right into his eyes as she spoke. “I get to explain myself because I lived. If I had 

died…” 

Caroline’s gaze turned cold. “You would all think that I deserved it.” 

“I-” Eddy started but was cut short with a wave of her hand. She didn’t want to listen to him explain himself anymore. 

“Can I ask you something? Why are you so biased?” 

Eddy opened his mouth to say something, but his thoughts went back to when he had been seven 

or eight years old. 

Jude had taken him and Caroline abroad. Layla, who had still been very young, had thrown a tantrum because she had wanted to go along with them. 

After setting off, they had headed to Halvia to switch to their connecting flight. 

Halvia had been in a rather chaotic state at that time. News about the rich and their family 

members getting abducted or kidnapped had been common there..
