Unfortunately, no one answered the call. In haste, Layla remembered that someone must be 

working at the bank right now, so she quickly called the bank. 

Her call was answered almost immediately. “Where’s Mr. Donovan? Pass him the phone right now! 

How could something like this happen? The man must have a death wish. 

The staff member on the other end of the line sounded confused. “Mr. Donovan? Nobody here goes 

by that name.” 

“What?” Layla roared into the phone. 

“Does he think he can hide for all eternity? Tell him that I’ll fire him if he doesn’t answer my call!” 

The staff member was flabbergasted. Still, he replied, “Miss, there’s no ‘Mr. Donovan‘ here.” 

“Oh right.” He seemed to remember something. 

“The former chairman’s surname is Donovan, but he’s been sacked. Just call his number if you 

have any other questions.” 

With that said, the staff member hung up, leaving Layla staring blankly into space. 

A while later, a thought occurred to her, and she picked up her phone to call Eddy. 

When the call went through, she seemed to have forgotten where she was and who she was 

surrounded by. 

Weeping, she said, “Eddy, didn’t you say that you would hand Collins Group over to me? How come 

it’s in Caroline’s hands now? 

“She caused your grandpa’s death, yet nobody punished her for it.” Layla continued. 

“And now she’s taken over Collins Group. How is this fair? This isn’t fair! This isn’t fair at all!” 

“Eddy,” she pleaded. 

“You’ve got to help me and take revenge for me!” 

However, Layla wasn’t aware of the fact that Eddy hadn’t listened to a single word that she had

The only thing on his mind right now was the bank’s announcement. Just a few days ago, a mysterious person had appeared out of nowhere and purchased the entire bank. 

Eddy had a hunch that said person was his second uncle. 

To test his hypothesis, he had agreed to sell the bank off. Now, the bank had made its announcement, proving that he was right. 

All of his guesses were correct! Caroline’s husband was his second uncle. It was true! All of it was true! 

Eddy’s hands balled into fists. He couldn’t make himself believe that his second uncle–the person he once admired the most–was married to Caroline. 

How had this happened? How could Kirk marry Caroline? 

Even if Eddy himself disliked her, Kirk shouldn’t have married her. What was more- 

“Eddy!” Layla’s piercing voice came from the other end of the line, pulling him out of his thoughts. 

“Are you even listening? I don’t care who decided to hand Collins Group over to Caroline. You have 

to fire the person behind this!” 

“What if I say that the one you’re talking about is me?” Eddy spat, his expression icy. 

Layla froze. She couldn’t believe it. 

“No way. You told me that you would help me become the Collins Group’s new owner,” she 

muttered. 

“You wouldn’t do something like that to me, right?” 

“I said that I would help you, but I never promised to make you that company’s owner,” Eddy 

replied as he stared right ahead, 

“Layla, you saved my life once, and I’ve helped you over and over again because of that. 

“This is the final time I’m helping you. You have to depend on yourself from now on.”
