Chapter 72
Naomi answered the phone and immediately scolded him. “Ronald, are you out of your mind? If you keep bothering me, I’ll kick you out tomorrow.”
On the other end of the call, Ronald sounded helpless as he said, “Naomi, I just wanted to tell you not to
sell me out to Brendan.”
Naomi hung up the phone abruptly.
It would be nice if the personalities of the two cousins could somehow be combined to even each other
out.
On Brendan’s end, Jason called him not long after he left Yellowind Bay.
Jason reported, “Mr. Martin has been away on a business trip for the past few days. He also hasn’t been in
touch with Ms. Goodwin.
“Everything seems normal regarding her whereabouts. She was indeed at South Lake last night.”
After hearing the report, Brendan responded indifferently and promptly hung up the phone. Naomi never seemed to have anything good to say and was always full of lies.
However, knowing that she had been talking nonsense just now, Brendan felt somewhat relieved. At least she didn’t dare to do anything reckless, which showed that she still cared about their marriage.
In the bedroom, Naomi hung up on Ronald and called Dennis. She explained her thoughts to him, suggesting that the project’s price remain unchanged but that the quality should be further improved.
On the other end of the phone, after considering Naomi’s thoughts, Dennis said, “Naomi, why don’t you come back to the company and help me?”
“Dad, you’re still young. Let’s talk about this in the future.”
“Naomi, it’s hard to get ahead in the legal profession. It can be tough, especially when you’ve only been handling divorce cases. If you keep going down this path, you might not be able to achieve success as a lawyer. So, please think about it.”
Naomi chuckled. “Dad, my career has only just started! Please don’t judge so hastily. I know what I’m
doing.”
She was aware that her current law firm and the type of work she was engaged in weren’t held in high regard within the legal community. However, she was young and had a long future.
After exchanging a few more words with Dennis, Naomi ended the call. Feeling tired, she yawned. Just as she was about to take a rest, the bedroom door suddenly swung open again.
She casually tossed her phone aside and said, “What do you want now? It’s late. Aren’t you going to rest?”
