Bella’s POV:

I was very grateful to Herbert. Without him, Betty and Anne might not have been able to live. And he suffered such a serious injury. I really didn’t know how to thank him. “I beg of you, hurry up and go in to persuade him. He won’t let the nurse put the drip for him. The nurse said that the wound is extremely deep and that the river water is also extremely filthy. He could still joke now. Didn’t Connor just say that he was making a fuss in the ward? Why was he still trying to make me happy now?

| sat by his bed. “This injury is nothing to me. Don’t worry.” Herbert stared at me. I asked, “I heard that you refused to let the nurse give you an injection?”

call the nurse in now.”
