Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 322

"Even if it's a misunderstanding, she brought it onto herself. She flat out denies not knowing who she was dealing with. She was driven by money to act this way, and there's nothing I can do to help her, even if I wanted to." Ethan said.

"You sound like you know something." Ines raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know the details, but I know who the puppet master is. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same person who caused trouble for the Galeana family last time." Ethan said.

"Them again?" Ines frowned, thinking that those people were top-notch when it came to playing games. They always seemed friendly face to face, but behind the scenes, they were fiercely competitive. Ethan continued, "He and Jacob have been political rivals for years. Jacob had the best chance of being promoted back then, but they played lots of dirty tricks behind the scenes, so Jacob has always been under them in these years. Izzy, many things about the Meyer family are complicated, and I can't explain them all at once. I'll reveal everything to you gradually." The Meyer family might seem peaceful on the surface, but a family like theirs was bound to be anything but simple, despite their family always being harmonious, without internal conflicts.

Ines nodded.

A hint of guilt flashed in Ethan's eyes, "I'm sorry, Izzy. I dragged you into our complicated family without explaining everything clearly. I know you just want to live a simple life."

"What are you talking about? We're married, and marrying you was my decision. I chose to be with you, so you don't have to feel sorry for me. Moreover, I've got my own set of problems, and since we got married, you've been the one helping me solve them. You've done so much for me, and I feel like I can't help you." Ines disagreed with Ethan, her tone slightly resentful.

Ethan laughed at her tone and pinched her cheek, "I just don't want you to feel wronged." Ines shook her head. She didn't feel wronged. If it weren't for his and their kid's company, she would have found the journey very tough. But with them by her side, she didn't find it hard to bear, "Ethan, everyone wants to live a simple life, but my birth has determined that I can't."

"Are you scared?" Ethan suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Ines looked at him in confusion.

"I mean, marrying into the Meyer family and becoming my wife, you might face many unknown things in the future." Ethan said.

Ines laughed, "If you're by my side, none of that is a problem. I'm not scared."

Ethan laughed happily, "Let's go then, the wedding should be starting soon."

Ines was a bit hesitant, her mind somewhat confused. She didn't know what to do. Zander was born into a family that valued knowledge and hated deceit. Rita also didn't like liars, and Joy was concealing such an important matter. Ines didn't know if Jeffery knew the truth.

"Ethan, what do you think I should do? Should I tell them about this?" Ines asked. Ethan was also troubled by this. He remembered that Joy used to be very arrogant, but now he wasn't sure what she had become, or if she deserved his help in hiding her past. But this involved destroying someone's marriage, so he couldn't be too casual about it, "Izzy, don't tell Zander and Rita about this for now. You can try to sound out Jeffery first."

"Ethan, I'm torn. I know Jeffery loves her. I'm afraid that if the truth comes out, they won't be able to get married." Ines said.
