Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 324

"Rita, chill out." Zander said, patting Rita's hand in a comforting way. The usually calm and collected man was showing signs of anger.

"If you're here to celebrate the wedding with us, you're more than welcome. But if you're here to stir up trouble, then please leave. We don't need your drama." he said.

"I'm just looking out for you guys. Marrying someone like her will only bring trouble to your family. I'm just trying to help." Tina stated defiantly.

Joy could feel Jeffery's grip on her hand tightening, and it hurt. She knew he was pissed, but she was too overwhelmed to even speak, let alone explain her complicated past. She could only stand there helplessly.

"Ethan, what should we do? Rita seems really upset. I think she's really mad." Ines said.

Ethan looked at Rita on stage, "Don't worry, I've already called security. They should be able to handle this soon."

As soon as Ethan was done speaking, the hotel manager came over with two security guards. Ethan pointed at Tina and said, “The woman in the blue jacket is causing a scene,” and asked them to escort her out. The manager nodded, and the guards promptly grabbed Tina's arms.

She shrieked loudly and put up a fight, "What are you doing? Jeffery, how could you let them do this to me? I was trying to help you, you can't let this wicked woman deceive you. She's bad news."

After the security guards escorted Tina away, her cursing still echoed in the air. The guests started whispering among themselves.

Then, Zander's voice came from the stage, "Rita, what's wrong?"

Ines was taken aback when she saw Rita collapse into Zander's arms. She hurriedly grabbed Ethan's clothes and shouted, "Ethan, Rita passed out."

"Izzy, just stay calm." Ethan held her tightly, worried she would rush up on stage.

Jeffery immediately released Joy, picked up Rita, and headed outside, followed closely by Zander. Joy stood there in a daze for a while before she followed them out.

Ethan and Ines were a bit slower, as he was being careful with her pregnant belly. By the time they got outside, Jeffery's car was already pulling away. Ethan tried to hail a cab, but it was a busy area and took a while to get one. By the time they got in, Jeffery's car was nowhere in sight. As they settled into the cab, Joy caught up. Ethan gave her a glance but didn't say anything, he simply told the driver to go.

"Izzy, do you know which hospital they might have gone to?" Ethan asked since he wasn't familiar with B City.

It was Joy who provided the hospital address.

"My wife is pregnant. Could you please drive a bit more smoothly?" Ethan requested the taxi driver.

"Sure, I got you." The taxi driver said.

When they arrived at the hospital, Rita was in the emergency room receiving treatment. Zander and Jeffery were both standing outside, looking shell-shocked.

Ines turned pale, "Zander, why did Rita faint?"

Ines let out a sigh of relief, smiling at Ethan, "Ethan, the doctor said Rita is okay."

Ethan nodded, "Yeah, she'll be fine."

In the hospital room, Rita woke up not long after, though she looked a bit pale. Seeing Ines sitting next to her, she chided, "Why did you follow me here? You shouldn't be running around like this."

Ines held her hand, gently patting her chest, and smiled, "Rita, calm down, you need to rest. Once you're better, you can scold me all you want, I promise I won't fight back."

"Are you saying I'm aggressive? When have I ever attacked you?" Rita looked at Ines disapprovingly.

Ines nodded repeatedly, going along with her words, "Yes, you've always been very gentle and kind, never attacking or insulting me."

It was rare to see Ines act like this, which amused Rita. She then asked, "What happened to me?"

"The doc said you fainted 'cause you can't handle stress. It's not a big deal. Take a few days off. Have another check-up. And if everything's hunky-dory, you'll be outta here." Ines said.

"Stay in the hospital? You gotta be kidding! I've got classes to teach, and I've already taken too many days off. What am I supposed to do if I keep putting my students' lessons on hold?" Rita said.
