Surprise flashed in Silvia's eyes, she paused, then said, "I knew you were a tolerant person who wouldn't nitpick with me. I really appreciate you. Could you explain to Ethan again? He only listens to you now."
"Of course, my hubby always listens to me. Let's catch up for a coffee sometime. You need to get to work now. Bye."
"Thank you very much."
Silvia put down her phone and sank into her thoughts on the bed. Judging from Ines' reaction today, she seemed to be triggered by something. Silvia had laid so many traps that she wasn't sure which one had worked. No matter what, she would have to be more cautious in the future. She couldn't make the same stupid mistake of confessing to Ines last time, or she might expose her weakness again. Now was not the right time to publicly express her feelings for Ethan.
A gloomy look gradually gathered in Silvia's eyes. This was just the beginning. She was curious to see how strong their relationship was and whether it could withstand her constant provocations.
...
After hanging up the phone, Ines tossed her phone onto the bed. The bed was soft, so the phone was unscathed after it bounced up and fell back down. Ethan had been watching Ines the whole time, a little dazed. He didn't expect her mood swings to be so fast, switching between anger and delight. Before the call, she looked like she was ready to pick a fight. Then she transformed into a gentle person during the call. After hanging up, she was furious again, venting her anger on her phone.
"Why are you looking at me? Are you mad at me for deleting your messages? Well, it's useless to be mad, the message is gone. If you want to see it, look it up yourself," Ines said with a petulant tone.
Ethan lifted his hand and gently patted her back, a smile flashed in his eyes. "No, you're overthinking. I just want you to control your emotions. Mood swings aren't good for pregnant women, otherwise, the baby might end up with a temper."
Ines got annoyed and jabbed Ethan's chest with her finger. "You keep bringing up the baby. People might think the only reason you're nice to me is because of these two kids. Is that the case?"
Ines thought she jabbed hard, but to Ethan, it felt like a tickle. After she vented a bit, Ethan grabbed her finger and said, "Don't jab so hard, you'll hurt yourself."
"Ethan, I'm pissed off. Don't show off your well-built chest right now, I'm not in the mood to deal with you."
After saying that, Ines knelt on the bed, crossed her arms over her chest, and put on a stern face. With her bulging belly, she looked a bit comical rather than imposing.
Ethan intentionally puffed out his chest in front of Ines and defended himself with a smile, "I'm not showing off, it's just the truth."
Ines couldn't help but laugh at his antics. But she quickly put on a superior attitude and said to Ethan, "You heard my conversation with Silvia. She texted yesterday saying she would still see you as a brother in the future. Regardless of how you interpret this, I don't believe her."
