Erica swiveled her head towards her husband. "Trenton, did you know about this way before?" Trenton shook his head firmly. "I only got the news this morning, just like you. But I've been at the base all day and didn't have the time to tell you. I wanted to tell you when I got home, but I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up since Beasley hadn't returned yet, so I was planning to wait a bit."
Erica gave him a slightly annoyed look, then dropped the subject, turning to Beasley beside her. "While serving dinner, I was wondering why your grandpa cooked so many of your favorite dishes. Turns out, he knew you were coming home today."
"Mom, I didn't deliberately keep it from you. As Grandpa said, anything could happen until I'm home."
"Eat up, your mom isn't blaming you. She's just glad you're safe." Rita chimed in. She had heard of Beasley from Ines and had always thought he was dead. As a mother herself, seeing the family reunion warmed her heart. Then she turned to Erica. "Erica, congratulations on your good fortune. Now you have both your sons and your grandkids with you. It's a blessing."
Mentioning grandkids, Erica suddenly thought of a headache-inducing problem and couldn't help but smack Beasley's leg. “Wouldn’t it be nice if you’d come home a year or half a year earlier? Izzy’s good friend Phoebe, she’s great, lively and would match your introverted personality. If you two ended up together, that would be perfect. If only you’d come home earlier, then Noel wouldn’t have gotten the upper hand.”
“Beasley, I like Phoebe too, Noel hasn’t completely won her heart yet, so you still have a shot." Ashley joined the conversation.
Ines found it amusing. Why was everyone so fixated on Phoebe? Aaron's mom was the same, and now Erica.
If Phoebe knew she was this popular, she'd be secretly thrilled.
Erica's words made everyone laugh, but after the laughter, Phillip also frowned. His eldest grandson was 35. If he didn't find a wife soon, it would be too late.
Beasley didn't understand what they were talking about. He frowned, looking puzzled at Ethan. "Ethan, are they suggesting I steal Noel's girlfriend?"
Ethan smirked, "Beasley, don't listen to them, I'll check out the situation for you tomorrow."
"There's no rush."
"What do you mean no rush? You're 35, and Ethan, who's a year younger than you, already has two kids. How much longer are you planning to wait? Oh, I forgot, I recently helped Silvia pick a boyfriend and built up quite a network. I'll ask them to keep an eye out and arrange something as soon as possible. You should give it a shot."
Beasley was a bit overwhelmed and didn't expect his first dinner home to turn into a matchmaking session. What's the deal?
"Mom, just because I go on a blind date doesn't mean I'll find the right person."
"Why not? Ethan should know best about this, you can ask him if you don't believe me," Erica finished and winked at Ethan. Beasley turned to his brother again. Everyone was looking at him, and Ethan gave an awkward smile. Between his mom and his respected brother, he was stuck. All he could do was try not to lean to either side. "Izzy and I did meet through a blind date, but that's rare. Blind dates aren't necessarily as good as you imagine."
"Isn't it good? Who was the one who wanted to marry Izzy at first sight and nearly got called crazy?" Erica countered unreservedly.
