Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 463

The two nurses were in mid-giggle when they sensed something was off. Turning around, they found Silvia glaring at them like a predator sizing up its prey. They shivered and immediately apologized, “Sorry... Dr. Caldwell, we didn’t mean to gossip about you.”

“Sorry, we... misspoke.”

Silvia merely stared at them. Her lips were pressed into a tight line, as she kept silent.

“Let’s go.”

One of the nurses, terrified by Silvia’s menacing look, seized the chance when Silvia was momentarily dazed, grabbed the other nurse, and scurried out of the restroom.

People were coming and going in the restroom, but Silvia was oblivious. She stood there for a while before she managed to return to her office, hearing whispers about her along the way.

She sat down. Her hand was trembling as she turned on her computer. The moment she opened a web page, it was flooded with news.

“The illegitimate daughter of a high-ranking official from A City, was revealed. The daughter was born out of wedlock to a mistress and currently works in a hospital as a recently employed psychiatrist...”

Although the news didn’t specify the name of the official, anyone who knew the situation could guess who it was referring to.

She quickly scrolled down, only to find her own picture posted. No wonder everyone could recognize her.

The comments were varied.

“Scandals like this are no surprise anymore. Those who appear righteous are often hypocrites. Who knows what they’ve done behind closed doors.”

“An illegitimate child is nothing. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Who knows how much more there is to be uncovered? Don’t act so shocked.”

“This poor girl, probably has countless half-siblings. I feel sympathy for her.”

“What a world we live in? I can’t even comment.”

“Don’t blame her. You’re all just jealous. If you could, you’d want to have a father like that too. You’re just sour grapes.”

...

Silvia felt her mind go blank, unable to think. The only thought in her mind was that now everyone knew about her background, knew she was Russel’s daughter, and knew the fact she least wanted to face.

To be Russel’s daughter, she didn’t care, not at all.

She gritted her teeth in anger. “Ines, you are really cunning, exposing everything without hesitation. No wonder you refused to cooperate with me! You have been preparing for this.”

Before Silvia had time to think, a nurse ran into her office. As Silvia glanced up at her sharply, the nurse shivered.
