Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 502

Ines received the news of Silvia’s arrest in the afternoon, when Emma had practically dragged her out of the office for a shopping spree. The two friends found a local ice cream parlor to rest their weary feet and enjoy a sweet treat.

After ending the call, Ines couldn’t help but stare at Emma sitting across from her.

Feeling slightly uncomfortable under Ines’ gaze, Emma asked curiously, “What’s up? You’re staring at me like I’m a piece of art or something. Who was that on the phone?”

Ines was a beat slow in responding, “It was Jacob. He just informed me that Silvia has been arrested.”

Emma snorted in disgust, “Good riddance. She’s a real creep. She deserved it. She can’t go around hurting people without suffering the consequences.”

Finding Ines lost in thought, Emma waved a hand in front of her face. “Hey, what are you thinking about? You look like you just saw a ghost. You’re not feeling sorry for her, are you?”

Ines shook her head, getting lost in her thoughts. “No, it’s just that seeing her end up like this, it reminds me of you. Both of you had hard childhoods, but you were lucky. Your mother was manipulative, but you had a loving father. He guided you subtly, helping you change your ways.”

When Emma was being stubborn, Hunter had no choice but to let her marry Aiden, even though it broke his heart. When Emma was hurt because of the Ramos family, Hunter had everything prepared for her to escape and live a peaceful life. Ines believed that love had the power to kill all evil.

Silvia could have had a different life if she hadn’t been consumed by her obsession, which ultimately led to Leila’s death. If she still had Leila, thing wouldn’t turn out like this.

Emma’s eyes welled up at the mention of her father, but she quickly changed the subject, “Let’s not compare me to Silvia, okay? I’m not that bad. The only thing I’ve done is being envious and making sarcastic comments. I never thought of killing anyone. When I found out that mom was planning to harm you, I even tried to warn you.”

In the end, she stole Ines’ fiancé, which cost her own happiness.

Ines raised an eyebrow, “Watch your wording. You say ‘only’. Is that supposed to be a trivial matter? You were all for it back then, regretting it now?”

“Well, I guess it is a serious matter. But I saved you from marrying a jerk. You should thank me for my brave sacrifice.” Emma replied with a serious face.

Regret wasn’t the right word. At least, she had Jasmine, her adorable daughter. She was very happy about that.

Ines glanced at the time. “Let’s drop this. Aren’t you supposed to be at work? You’ve been chatting with me all day.”

“Nah, I took the day off to hang out with you,” Emma replied unnaturally.
