In the end, she let go.
"The wedding is almost here, and I don't want any scandals. Stop seeing William from now on!"
Aaron threw this statement over his shoulder as he stormed out.
Serena watched Aaron's retreating figure, the smile on her face slowly cracking.
Oh, the hypocrisy.
Serena changed into her pajamas and lay down in bed. As part of her nightly ritual, she picked up her phone. There was a message from Cynthia Lynwood.
[You don't honestly think that wedding dress would upset me, do you? Clearly, you know nothing.]
[That dress was designed by Aaron for me. If it weren't for the sudden failure of my kidneys five years ago resulting in the wedding's cancellation, you'd never have even seen it.]
So, it was true.
Aaron had designed the dress for Cynthia Lynwood.
Having her suspicions confirmed, Serena let out a mocking laugh and replied: [It doesn't matter because, in the end, I'm the one marrying Aaron!]
It only took a minute for Serena to receive a furious reply.
[Serena!!!! Don't get too smug! Aaron is marrying you out of pity, not love!]
Serena's lips curled up as her eyes lingered on the word "pity," and her heart gave a small pang.
She reached for the intercom and called Olivia.
"Miss Sullivan, what can I do for you?"
"Call the bridal shop and have them take the wedding dress back tomorrow."
