Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 112

William's voice carried a hint of regret. "Alright."

Serena gently nudged William to continue walking forward.

After a few steps in silence, William suddenly spoke up, "I heard you're planning a wedding with Aaron?"

Serena's pace didn't falter. "Yes."

Gripping the handrail of his wheelchair a little tighter, William offered, "Congratulations, it seems you're getting what you wanted."

Serena chuckled. "Why congratulate me? Just watch, Aaron and I won't end up getting married."

There was such certainty in her words that it lifted a weight from William's heart, one he'd been carrying for quite some time.

Looking up, he asked with a smile, "Why do you say that?"

"Cynthia Lynwood will never let him have his way."

William hesitated. "So, you really have no intention of marrying Aaron?"

Serena paused, staring down at William, her expression puzzled.

His heart skipped a beat under her gaze. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"It's just curious," Serena said as she moved to stand directly in front of William. She crouched down, looking up into his eyes. "You and Aaron are business partners, yet you seem deeply invested in his personal life."

Not just invested—overly concerned.

William blinked twice. "A partner's personal affairs can impact the long-term success of our business. Keeping an eye on Aaron's personal life is just a precaution to ensure it doesn't interfere with work."

To Serena, this explanation seemed a bit dull.

"I thought maybe you liked Aaron, given how much interest you take in his personal life."

William nearly choked. "Wh... what did you say?"

"Well, it's just that," Serena continued, pushing William along once more. "I've heard you're thirty, and yet there's never been a woman in your life. In your world, it's not like there's a shortage of women."
