Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 135

Aaron stepped out of the car and watched as the fishing boat, silhouetted against the moon, seemed to slice through the night like lightning.

It was getting further and further away.

A wave of panic surged through him.

He quickly took out his phone and dialed Zachary's number.

On the way over, he had already done a thorough background check on the Lewis family.

On the boat.

"Uncle, your phone is ringing," Serena noticed that Zachary's phone kept buzzing insistently, as if the caller wouldn't give up until someone answered.

"Could you answer it for me?" Zachary asked, his attention focused on steering the boat.

"Sure."

Serena picked up the call, but a commanding voice immediately demanded, "Let Serena take the phone."

The tone of command instantly triggered Serena's deepest fears.

After a brief pause, she hung up.

Back on the shore.

When Aaron heard the call disconnect, his eyes narrowed sharply.

Serena!

Serena had answered the phone!

He dialed again, but this time, no one picked up.

Several minutes later.

Zachary glanced back at the distant car lights that had dwindled to mere specks, and said to Serena with a smug grin, "What do you think? Did we lose them?"

Serena looked at Zachary, who seemed as gleeful as a mischievous child, and laughed, "Yes, Uncle, you're amazing!"

Zachary’s laughter was wide and joyful.

Just then, Zachary's phone rang again. But this time, it wasn't Aaron calling—it was a video call from Shirley.
