Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 204

It was far too small.

Barely over two thousand square feet.

That was why, when Cynthia Lynwood had raved about how peaceful and rejuvenating it felt to live there—how good it was for her health—he’d agreed without hesitation.

After all, if there was one thing Aaron never lacked, it was real estate.

Honestly, if he hadn’t known that Serena didn’t have much cash on hand, he wouldn’t have bought that house for their marriage in the first place.

Now, standing at the front door, Aaron felt nothing but irritation.

He pressed the doorbell.

Footsteps sounded from inside almost immediately.

“I’m coming!”

The door swung open, revealing Cynthia Lynwood’s innocent, fresh-faced smile.

She looked surprised to see him. “Aaron? What are you doing here? I was just about to call you!”

Aaron studied her wide-eyed, guileless expression. It was hard to imagine someone like her as cunning or malicious.

He rubbed his brow. “I…”

“Aaron, you must’ve heard that I ran into Evelyn today—that’s why you rushed over, isn’t it?”

The mention of Evelyn made Aaron freeze. “You saw her?”

“Yeah!” Cynthia spun around excitedly, hurrying back inside to grab her phone. “Look, this was earlier today! I ran into her at the grocery store. Doesn’t she look exactly like Evelyn?”

Aaron stared at the photo, his gaze darkening.

The woman in the picture was elegant, poised. Her brows had the delicate arch of distant hills, her eyes shimmered like deep autumn lakes, her nose was straight, her lips naturally rosy.
