Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 248

Judge: “So... you’re saying you don’t have a law degree?”

“That’s right.”

The judge sucked in a sharp breath.

There was only one word he could use to describe William’s performance in court today:

Brilliant.

But never in his wildest dreams did he imagine William wasn’t even trained in law.

“If you’re not a lawyer, then how are you so well-versed in legal statutes and regulations?”

“Everything I said was relayed to me by my attorney.”

The judge looked even more astonished.

“You’re telling me that everything you presented here today was just repeating what your lawyer told you?”

“Yes.”

The judge glanced down at William and Serena seated below him.

He’d already heard whispers about the story behind this case.

After Serena’s father passed away, Penelope had moved in with Tyler to live with the Sullivan family—that much was true.

And privately, he hoped Serena would win this case.

But as a judge, fairness had to come first.

“Since the defendant’s lawyer hasn’t shown up, we’ll have to reschedule for another hearing. However, Mr. Grayson, impersonating an attorney carries a fine by regulation. You have no objection to that, do you?”

William replied, “None at all.”

“Very well. Court is adjourned.”

Nestor Leighton looked like he wanted to protest, but the judge had already exited the courtroom.

Left with no choice, Nestor turned to William, his frustration obvious. “Well, Mr. Grayson, you certainly lucked out today.”

William gave a calm smile. “I suppose I have you to thank for that.”
