Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 33

Olivia froze for a moment, clearly not expecting Serena to challenge her so openly. But soon, a look of disdain flickered across her eyes.

She really thought that just because Aaron personally picked her up, she was the lady of the house now.

"The kitchen isn't prepared for a sudden visit," Olivia remarked bluntly.

"Then make it again!" Serena replied, pouring the soup down the sink.

Seeing the soup discarded, Olivia's temper flared. "Ser—"

A cold voice cut through the tension, "If she says redo it, then redo it. No need for all this chatter."

Olivia turned, stunned, to see Aaron standing there.

Was Mr. Vance really siding with Serena?

It seemed impossible, but as an employee, Olivia knew better than to protest further. She simply nodded and retreated to the kitchen.

Once Olivia was gone, Aaron approached Serena. "I'll have Victor pick you up at seven tonight."

Serena remained silent.

Aaron frowned, his lips moved as if to add something, but he ultimately turned and left without another word.

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, Serena headed out, ignoring Olivia's snide remarks trailing behind her.

At the café, she found Samuel already waiting. Serena apologized quickly, "I'm sorry about last night. Everything happened so suddenly, I didn't get a chance to explain."

This morning, Samuel had texted her, reminding her she had forgotten to tell him she was back at Rosewood Gardens.

"It's alright," Samuel said, pulling out a chair for her. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, "You still love him, don't you?"

Serena paused, her hand hovering over the menu. "Why do you say that?"

Samuel smiled, a trace of melancholy in his eyes. "Seven years is a long time to love someone. How many seven years do we have in our lives?"

Serena smiled back, offering no explanation.
