Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 96

"I'll give you a grand wedding if we get married."

A faint smile played on Serena's lips. "Are you trying to make it up to me? For almost making me donate my kidney to Cynthia Lynwood?"

Aaron frowned. "That's not it. I do want to make it up to you, but it's because I've neglected your feelings in the past. Serena, give me a chance."

The smile on Serena's lips turned sardonic. "No need. Letting me walk away is the biggest compensation."

Aaron's eyes darkened. "I've told you, anything but that, I can agree to."

Serena closed her mouth, choosing silence.

Aaron's brows knitted tightly at her response.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

They both turned to see Victor standing there. Serena averted her gaze.

Victor looked at Aaron. "Do you need anything?"

After glancing at Serena, Victor hesitated. "It's about Dr. Grayson."

"Just say it, there's no one here but us."

"Yes," Victor nodded, opening his tablet. "Ms. Lawrence reported that Dr. Grayson was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to ten years in prison. He's being transferred to the southside facility today, and he requested to see Miss Lynwood. Mr. Vance, should we arrange a meeting between him and Miss Lynwood?"

Aaron rubbed his temples. "Ask Cynthia."

"Yes, sir."

"Wait."

Victor turned back at Serena's call, stopping with a respectful nod. "Miss Sullivan, is there something you need?"

"You just said Matthew was sentenced? Why was he sentenced?"

And why is he the only one? What about Cynthia Lynwood?

Victor glanced at Aaron.

Aaron had made it clear not to disclose anything about him being injured to Serena.

So... Victor was at a loss for words.

Aaron waved him off, signaling him to leave.
