Burn the Marriage, Keep the Crown novel Chapter 98

Since Aaron had woken up, he hadn't left Serena's bedside, not even for a moment.

He never stepped away.

Meanwhile, Cynthia Lynwood, after waking up from her successful surgery, would wail every day about wanting to see Aaron.

Frederick's ears were almost raw from her cries.

If it weren't for Aaron, he would have left long ago.

"If Aaron wants to see you, he will," Frederick interrupted Cynthia's laments. "If he hasn't come, it means he's busy."

Cynthia, with tears in her eyes, looked at Frederick. "Frederick, please, I really want to see Aaron. Can you help me?"

Once, he might have considered helping her.

But...

After witnessing Cynthia refuse to see Matthew one last time, Frederick saw her in a new light.

She claimed it was to avoid further sorrow.

But the truth was, she just didn’t want to see Matthew, the man who nearly got Serena killed for her sake.

It was clear that Cynthia wasn’t as kind as she appeared.

"Can't you understand plain words—"

Before Frederick could finish, Cynthia's despondent face suddenly lit up, her eyes sparkling as she looked towards the door.

He turned to see Aaron and sighed in relief.

Finally, he could escape.

"You're here. I'll leave this to you. I'm going out for a smoke," Frederick said, patting Aaron's shoulder as he exited the room.

Inside, Cynthia sprang up, delighted. "Aaron, you finally came."

Aaron responded with a curt nod and took a seat by the bed.

"Aaron, what's wrong?" Noticing his mood, Cynthia nervously bit her lip and asked, "Did I... do something wrong?"
