Carl was excitedly filled with joy, "I just saw my brother's finger move! Moved! The doctor has been called to check!"
Victoria was so happy that she didn't even have time to respond. She immediately ran into the ward.
However, the next second, she saw Jack still with closed eyes, trapped in unconsciousness, while doctors examined him.
Victoria's elation instantly cooled down.
Grandpa Moore waved at Victoria.
Victoria walked over with heavy steps.
"Victoria, don't worry. Any reaction is a good sign," the old man comforted in a soft voice.
"Yes, Victoria!" Carl earnestly analyzed, "My brother is no longer in a constant coma; he finally showed a reaction, which means he'll wake up soon!"
Victoria nodded. She understood this, but she was just anxious and wanted to see Jack wake up as soon as possible.
This was the first time Carl had seen Victoria so worried about his brother. She did not know whether to be happy or sad.
He hoped that his brother would wake up soon and see his wife's heartbroken expression.
After the doctors finished the examination, their tone lightened a bit, "Through our careful testing, Mr. Moore, though not showing obvious responses to external stimuli, actually has some consciousness. This is a sign of awakening. We'll continue to observe for some time."
The old man breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Okay, sorry for the trouble."
The leading doctor quickly and politely said, "No way, this is what we should do."
At night, Victoria persuaded the old man and Carter's parent to go home. Old people are not as energetic as young people, and they must be tired after another day in the hospital. They must go back and rest.
Before the old master left, he asked the nanny in Pinecroft to pack some clothes for Victoria and sent them over. He also asked the chef to make soup and make nutritious meals for her.
This VIP ward had facilities for bathing and resting, making it quite convenient.
After Grandpa Moore and his parents left, Carl wanted to stay and accompany Victoria in the ward.
Victoria saw the redness in his eyes and couldn't help but advise, "You've been awake for two days and nights. Go rest tonight."
"No, I'm not leaving!" Carl worriedly pointed at the redness in Victoria's eyes, "You're just like me. You haven't closed your eyes for two days and nights. I can stay here to share the burden with you."
Victoria gestured to the nearby resting bed, "It's okay. When I'm tired, I can sleep here. You go home and rest tonight, come back tomorrow."
Carl wanted to say more, but Victoria persuaded him a few more times.
Carl had no choice but to think about it. With Victoria watching his brother, he would be more at ease than having anyone else. Besides, there was an on-duty doctor outside the ward, and there were Moore family bodyguards taking turns guarding the corridor. There couldn't be any accident.
Moreover, today was the first anniversary of his brother and Victoria getting married, so he had to give them some alone time.
Carl reluctantly instructed Victoria several times before leaving the ward.
The large ward became deserted and quiet.
On the dining table were the nutritious meals prepared by the chef, as well as the fish soup that was stewed until it was thick and white, exuding the fragrance of the food.
However, Victoria had no appetite. She only took the change of clothes, went to the bathroom for a quick wash, and came out.
After coming out of the bathroom, Victoria walked to the bedside, holding a white towel soaked in warm water, and gently wiping Jack's face.
The man lay quietly with closed eyes, and the warm light above his head cast a soft glow. His long eyelashes beneath his eyelids cast a faint shadow, and his originally pale skin now appeared sickly pale, like cold jade. The only touch of color was his lips, a delicate shade of cherry blossom.
Knowing he wouldn't react now, Victoria was still afraid of hurting him if she wiped too hard. Her movements were gentle, wiping from the brow to the jawline.
Her slender fingertips couldn't help but touch his lips, but the man lay there quietly, devoid of life.
Victoria's eyelashes trembled, and a sourness welled up in her eyes.
