Came Back as an Heiress After My Ex-Fiancé Made Me Blind novel Chapter 478

A few days later, Victoria and Jack went to the old house to visit their grandfather. Coincidentally, Carl Carter and Anne Carter were also there. The younger generation accompanied the old man for lunch together.

After lunch, while everyone was chatting in the flower hall, Anne received a phone call. Her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, then she told everyone that a friend needed her and she had to leave first.

The old man kindly reminded a few words and then smilingly let his granddaughter go attend to her own affairs.

Carl scratched his head in puzzlement, feeling that his sister seemed to have something on her mind lately. But with the backgrounds of both the Carter and Moore families, what could be troubling that couldn't be resolved?

Victoria noticed his unusual expression and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Carl leaned in and whispered his speculation. Victoria's expression slightly hardened, "Ask Anne privately first, see if she's willing to talk about it."

If there really is something troubling, everyone can help solve it.

Carl sighed, "That's all we can do."

In the afternoon, several of the old man's friends came to visit. They had been friends for decades, all cheerful and asking about Victoria and Jack's wedding. The old man was in high spirits with the joyous occasion, his health noticeably better than before, and he would tell everyone that the wedding was about to take place. This made Victoria feel a bit embarrassed.

After returning from the old house, Carl visited his brother and little Victoria's new home, happily stayed for dinner before leaving.

In the living room, Victoria sat on the sofa, playing with her phone.

Jack walked over and sat beside her, his distinct fingers pinching her neck gently, "I'll be going on a business trip to the overseas branch in a few days, probably for about two weeks." Victoria looked down at her phone, "Two weeks, that's quite long. I'll miss you."

Her words sounded touching, but her eyes never left her phone. Not genuine at all.

Jack's brow furrowed, "What are you looking at?"

Victoria became excited, "Gossip! A minor celebrity's house collapsed!"

This sentence was obviously more heartfelt.

Jack replied, "...First, take a look at your husband."

He didn't have much allure for gossip.

Victoria still looked at her phone, not bothering to lift her head, "Why should I look at you?"

Jack looked at her with the expression of a heartless woman, then sighed softly and said, "Indeed, once you've slept, you no longer cherish."

Victoria: "???"

Victoria paused for a moment, then suddenly lifted her head to look at him. She grabbed the pillow beside her and threw it at him.

The man caught it effortlessly, his tone carrying a relaxed and teasing vibe, "Finally willing to take a look at your husband?"

Victoria: "..."

This guy, honestly!

Jack pulled her into his arms, his slender fingers gently playing with her fair and soft earlobes, "Stay with me for a while."

Victoria rubbed against his chest, "I heard you earlier. You said you're going on a two-week business trip to the overseas branch. I'll obediently wait for you to come back!"

The man lowered his head and kissed her lips...

Victoria originally thought two weeks would pass quickly, as they had been apart for long periods before. But just a few days after Jack left the country, she started missing him. By the seventh day, she missed him terribly.

Although they had video calls every day, the feeling was still different from seeing each other in person. Victoria thought for a moment, then dialed Jamal Lewis's number.

This time, Jack went to the overseas branch, and Jamal, as his assistant, had been accompanying him.

After Victoria called, she asked Jamal for the specific address and decided to go there quietly to surprise Jack. She instructed Jamal not to tell Jack about her visit. Jamal readily agreed, always obedient to his boss lady's instructions.

After all, these past few days, Mr. Moore had been in a low-pressure, disgruntled state, wishing he could work overtime to finish his tasks and return to the country overnight. Now that the boss lady came quietly, Mr. Moore would surely be pleasantly surprised.
