When Maggie was two years old, she accidentally broke Joey's watch. Joey was furious. He didn't do anything, but Maggie was so scared that she had a high fever in the middle of the night.
She stayed in the hospital for seven days and nights, and even the people in the old house were alarmed. As she carried Maggie home tiredly, but he said coldly, "where have you been with the child?"
She held the baby in her arms stiffly and went upstairs, like a walking dead
After that, she didn't expect anything more. She just wanted her child to grow up well. There were more and more rumors about Joey. She endured all the unfairness of this marriage, and she had no complaints about his coldness and rudeness. As long as the child was not hurt, she was willing to bear everything.
But then Sally came back. she was extremely afraid. She was afraid that Joey would show such disgusting eyes again and that he would hurt Maggie. She knew that the child was the only connection between her and Joey. If she lost the child, the two of them would be like passers-by.
So she took the initiative to ask for a divorce, so that he didn't have to be embarrassed, and the people in Gu Family's old house would not say anything. She left with the child, so that Sally and Joey could go out together with the two of them aboveboard.
In this way, she and Maggie wouldn't have to be looked down upon by Joey anymore.
It was a good idea, but she had overestimated herself and underestimated Joey's feelings for Sally. Joey didn't want to let her go at all. SH even used her child to humiliate her, regardless that Maggie was his biological daughter.
Lois lowered her eyes. She didn't care about anything else. As long as Joey was willing to give her the baby, she could bear whatever he did.
The lunch ended in silence. Lois took the card to pay the bill, but was told by the waiter with a smile, "your bill has been paid."
When Lois was confused, Kent had walked to the front desk and asked, "what's up?"
Lois was confused. Kent had never left the table when they were having dinner. Then who paid the bill?
Shaking her head, Lois said, "the receptionist said that someone had paid the bill."
She put the bank card into her wallet and looked up, only to see Sally and a middle-aged couple coming out of the box.
The two eyes met. Suddenly, Lois realized that it was Sally who paid for her.
Sally put down her hand which was holding the middle-aged woman's arm and walked towards her, wriggling her waist.
She talked to Lois with a smile, "Miss Shen, you deserve to be a goddess. Even if you have broken up with Joey, there are still people around you who care about you."
Ignoring the mockery in her tone, Lois put her wallet into her handbag and said, "I would like to pay you back next time."
Ignoring the unwillingness on Lois's face, Sally looked up at Kent beside her.
His gentle smile and elegant temperament were no less attractive than Joey's.
Sally didn't show it on her face, but her heart was filled with jealousy. Why could Lois be so lucky to marry Joey? It was not easy for her to stir up the gap between them, and she hadn't appreciated her miserable situation enough. How could she get on another boat so soon!
Thinking of this, Sally smiled and said, "no, thanks. It's both Joey's money. No, Miss Shen is probably using this gentleman's money now... "
Before Sally could finish her words, she was interrupted by Kent. He said in a low and gentle voice, "Miss, you have to insult yourself, and then others will insult you. The old saying tells us that people will only be looked down upon by themselves as she look down upon herself."
