Alyssa mumbled softly, "Mom…" Her heart ached.

Mandy sat down by her side, opened her arms, and pulled her into a warm embrace.

"Ever since your mother's passing, Winston has never set foot in Kontina. Even when he happened to see any news about Kontina on TV, he would switch channels as quickly as possible. Perhaps he was reminded of your mother when he saw someone who had come from Kontina.

"Lyse, I'll suggest that you go and keep him company. If not, he might get caught up in his thoughts when he's alone, and get so down that he has trouble sleeping again."

With some desserts in her hands, Alyssa walked toward Winston's room. Right after she turned the corner, she bumped into Axel, who had just returned from the frosty winter night.

"Axel, you're back!"

"Hi, Lyse." Axel strutted up to her with his hands in his pockets.

"I haven't seen you all day. Everyone has been asking where you were. Where did you go?"

Axel's lashes fluttered. Hesitantly, he pulled out an exquisite-looking, red-colored velvet box from his pocket. He presented it to Alyssa.

"I chose this, Lyse. What do you think?"

Alyssa was taken aback slightly. She received the box in her hands and opened it, and in it was a handmade, teardrop-shaped sapphire necklace decorated with diamonds around it. Even in the dim corridor, the necklace sparkled brightly.

"Axel, is this… what you're giving to Amber? It's beautiful!" Alyssa asked excitedly.

"Yeah. Amber already has a necklace, but it's already really old. So, I was thinking of giving her a new one. Took me a long time to choose this, but I still feel like it's a bit lacking."

Axel scratched his head. Then, he sighed and consoled himself, "Actually, forget it. I don't really have an eye for aesthetics. I've tried my best."
