“Of course,” Lauren answered. 

“It’s different from just liking me as a person,” Landon said, clearing his throat. He explained in 

embarrassment. “It’s… the kind of feelings that Jasper has for Alyssa.” 

Her clear, bright eyes wavered. She toyed with the intricate button on his dark shirt and stammered, “I-I 

don’t know.” 

He silently sighed and smiled wryly at her. “Alright. Go sleep now.” 

“But I like to be with you. I can’t do anything right when you’re not at home because I’m worried. I’ll wait for you to come home. Time flies when I’m with you. Looking at you makes me happy,” she mumbled, her 

eyes half-closed. 

His breath grew heavy, and his palms started sweating as he held her. 

She confessed, “One day, you came home late. I pretended to be asleep when you checked on me in the bedroom, but I had been awake all along.” 

His chest tightened. That night, he and Angelina had gone out to get rid of two dissenters in Harper Group 

who had turned out to be Preston’s men. 

He had always presented himself as a cheerful and outgoing man, hiding his dark and heartless side from 

her. 

She pressed her lips together and said, “I smelled a strong stench of blood on you. You had a wound on your hand-I felt it when you touched my forehead.” 

Then, she picked up his hand and removed the black leather glove from his right hand. The wounds on his knuckles and fingertips might have healed, but the scars remained. 

“Landon, I’m worried you’ll get into danger out there. I’m so worried…” She felt a burst of pain in her heart. 

Her lashes fluttered when she kissed his wounds. 

“I don’t know if that counts as having feelings for you.” 

His heart trembling, Landon finally lost control of his desire and pinned her underneath him. 

Lauren moaned gently but wasn’t too shocked. She had never been intimate with any man in her 22 years.

Afterward, he had gone home and taken a two-hour-long bath to calm down, almost falling sick from it.
