Chapter 0113
Based on the difficulty of each individual event, the number 5 event carried the highest additional score, a full ten points.
The same was true for the other teams.
At this point, it was purely a matter of individual skill; nobody could help those who drew the number five event.
The group fell silent, each taking their numbered plaques and gradually leaving with their teams.
Madison remained silent the entire time.
The pressure she was feeling was palpable to everyone.
Those were 10 points not to be lost lightly.
In the other events, the lowest score was only three points,
underscoring just how critical those ten points were.
“I’m going to rest in my room,” Madison stated once they reached the hotel, and then she bid farewell to the others.
Entering her room, she dived into the bathroom. Without even removing her uniform, she turned on the shower and let the water cascade over her head as she leaned against the wall, trying to relax as much as possible.
The individual races would take place on the final day, with events. proceeding in the order of the drawn numbers.
That meant all pilots who drew the number five event would compete at the very end of the last day.

Madison showered for a full hour until her fingertips were prunely.
She changed into a new set of clothes, wrapped herself in a towel, turned on the computer, and browsed through the hard drive for various flight techniques and voiceovers recorded by her grandfather.
Listening to his familiar voice, she felt a warm sensation in her heart, as if Grandpa was still there with her.
She wrapped her arms around herself and repeatedly played one segment of the video, watching intently as the combat plane in the video performed various flips and maneuvers.
Grandpa’s commentary seemed to etch itself into her mind.
She had never attempted this event before; it was not very dangerous,
but it had a low success rate.
Meaning, the likelihood of the plane getting destroyed and the pilot dying was very small. More likely was failing to navigate around an obstacle midway through.
If only…
Madison gripped her arms tightly, her grasp firm.
If she could just replicate the techniques her grandfather
demonstrated in the video, then….
She would undoubtedly shine at this year’s aerial display competition.
Her blood raced, causing her heart to beat faster.
“Buzz, buzz, buzz-”
Her phone vibrated.
She reached over to answer it, “Hello?”
Sensing her weary voice, Ethan asked, “Tired?”

Madison opened her eyes, a trace of a smile forming, “Not really.
What are you up to?”
“Right now, I’m thinking of you.”
At his slick talk, Madison exhaled in mock frustration, “You really can’t go a moment without sweet-talking, can you?”
“Is saying I miss you considered sweet-talking?”
The line went silent, filled only with the soft echo of their breathing.
“After the competition is over, I’ll pick you up and take you home.”
Madison chuckled lazily, “If we lose, will you still feel like picking me
up?”
After a moment’s pause, Ethan said
“Does winning or losing truly matter?”
“Seeing you is what’s most important to me.”
That night, their phone call didn’t end.
He stayed with Madison until she fell asleep, recounting childhood
stories with Michael in a leisurely manner.
