“What’s going on?” Sienna asked, confused. “Is something wrong
Cedric looked at her, hesitated for a moment, then spoke. “I know this might be a bit sudden, but I have to ask… why are you so afraid of Josiah?”
He swallowed hard, his voice strained. “Aren’t you two, uh, getting back together?”
“Back together?” Sienna’s eyes widened in surprise. “Why would you say that?”
Cedric fell silent for a moment before answering honestly. “That’s what Josiah told me.”
Before Sienna could respond, he awkwardly added, “So… did you two have a fight? It’s normal for couples to argue, right?”
“No,” Sienna cut him off sharply.
Her lips pressed together tightly, and her eyes reddened slightly No, it wasn’t a fight. There’s no getting back together between me and him.”
Cedric stared at her, stunned. “What’s going on?‘ he wondered.
“You two didn’t make up? Then…” He trailed off, realizing something.
He could see the hostility in Josiah’s eyes wasn’t just some misunderstanding. It was real. Josiah was clearly seeing him as a rival.
Looking at Sienna’s reaction, Cedric had a guess. “Could it be… Josiah is just pushing for this, and you don’t feel the same?” Sienna froze for a moment. She hadn’t expected Cedric to figure it out so easily.
She didn’t answer, but the look on her face made everything clear.
“I was right, wasn’t I?” Cedric’s voice darkened, and he slammed his hand on the steering wheel. “This is too much. Josiah is going way too far.”
When it came to matters of the heart, it was supposed to be about mutual feelings, not some kind of forceful demand. “But,” Cedric was confused. “Why are you running away? Can’t you just talk to him about it?”
“Talk to him?” Sienna let out a dry laugh, the bitterness of past experiences rising to the surface.
“This isn’t the first time something like this has happened,” she said.
“What?” Cedric was taken aback. “You mean, you and Josiah…”
Sienna closed her eyes and nodded slightly. She had never spoken openly about it, but now, it all came rushing back.
Her first marriage had been a trap set by the Flynn family. At twenty, she didn’t understand it, but after four years, how could she still not see it?
Was she angry? Of course, she was. She had been caught in a manipulative marriage and subjected to so much injustice.
But the Flynn family had done her a huge favor. She was someone even her own father had rejected. After Fiona passed away, she went to her father, begging him to take her in.
She was just fificen, still a child, and she needed someone to care for her.
Chapter 103
But her father refused:
In the end, it was Miranda who took her hand and led her into the Flynn family, where she was taken care of, given food, shelter, and the opportunity to continue her education and pursue
dance.
If it hadn’t been for the Flynn family, a fifteen–year–old orphan ke her could not have survived. That kindness was something she could never forget, no matter what huppencil.
So, when the people who had helped her hurt her, she had no choice but to swallow her pain and move on.
Sienna snapped back to the present, a cold smile on her lips, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “Howard woke up.
I… I…
She was too emotional to finish her sentence.
“I understand.” Cedric’s voice softened, his tone gentle. “You dont need to say more. I get it.”
and
At this point, everything was clear. He had gone to the hospital today to visit Howard, who had just woken up, and there he had run into Sienna, who had been hurriedly leaving.
