Chapter 153
Sienna was utterly bewildered. “Why is Josiah here! And can he really say something nice for once? Are all rich people like this? she thought
Howard and Cedric were wealthy too, but they were nothing like Josiah,
She couldn’t help but
ut think has grumpiness was just for her. Yet he had indeed saved her; that much was clear.
Trying to steady herself, Sienna attempted to pull away from Josiah. Thanks for earlier, I
“What?” Josiah scoffed, holding her waist with one hand. “You think you can just walk away? Can you even stand on your own?”
Sienna paused, realizing she was too weak to stand on her own now.
Josiah noticed her wide–eyed stare and grinned. “Why are you looking at me like that? Was I the one who tricked you?”
gat
Sienna froze, her mind racing. Has he overheard everything? Did he know about Xenia’s plan! When did he start listening inf
“Stop playing tough,” Josiah said easily lifting her up.
He sighed softly, pretending to be a bit reluctant, “Since I’m already here, I might as well see this through. Where’s your room!”
Sienna raised an eyebrow, surprised at his kindness. She was exhausted, though, and didn’t have the energy to argue, so she told him her room number and quietly said, “Appreciate the help”
“You ought to thank me,” Josiah remarked without hesitation.
Once they reached the room, Josiah set Sienna down, pulled her room card from her bag, opened the door, and picked her up again
He carried her over, laid her gently on the bed, and tucked her hair back to she was comfy. Then he pulled up the blanket and tucked her in
After getting her settled, he didn’t leave right away. He stood by the bed, watching her closely, frowning as he asked. “How are you feeling?”
“L” Sienna furrowed her brow, trying to figure out how she was doing, and replied honestly, “I feel weak all over”
That’s all he asked.
“Huh!” Sienna was puzzled and nodded. “Yeals, that’s all” He sounded as if she was supposed to feel something more, but she had no idea what he was implying
Josh breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh,” he said, realizing that Xenia had just used some sort of relaxant to make Sienna’s limbs go limp–nor something to arouse passion
But it still really bothered him! If he hadn’t shown up, Sienna wouldn’t have stood a chance against that jerk. He couldn’t believe Xenia, with all her wealth, would mess with people for her kid. Just thinking about it soured Josialy’s mood.
Sienna felt a bit thrown off by his look. She asked quietly, “Aren’t you leaving!”
“Where am I supposed to go?” Josiah snapped, still on edge, giving her a sideways glance. “You can’t be alone. Someone could take advantage.” He was right. If this plan failed, Xenia would likely try something else.
Sienna was used to his quick semper. She decided to just let him be. The room then got quiet.
Jonah realized he’d been a bit too hanh. He cleared his throat, feeling a bit awkward, and said, “Hey, you’re still weak now, aren’t you! You might need some water or something right? Or maybe you need to use the bathroom?”
He casually dragged a chair over and plopped down beside the bed. “I’ll stick around as the good guy until you’re feeling better, then I’m outta here,”
Sienna hgured it was one thing for him to help with linle things like getting water, but the bathroom was off–limits. That was her private space. But she held her tongue since he was genuinely trying to be nice this time.
She was about to express her gratitude, but Jusiah cut in.
“Enough” he said, sounding annoyed. “No need for thanks Just rest up”
legs out over the edge of the bed, closed his eyes, and leaned back in the chair to chill.
sanna finally had a chance to really look at him. What happened to him? Where did he come front she wonders.
