Caught In His Embrace A Second Chance Romance novel Chapter 389

"You... you're a good person..." The woman clutched Sienna's hand tightly, looking at her as if she was a lifeline. "You're a good person, and we've met before..."

Sienna was taken aback. She had no idea why the woman thought that, but it was clear that her mental state was not quite right.

"Yeah, we've met again," Sienna nodded, squeezing the woman's hand gently. "Tell me, what happened?"

The woman cautiously glanced around. "I don't know them! They want to catch me, I'm scared..."

"Alright..." Sienna looked up at Josiah, then patted the woman's hand reassuringly. "I'll stay with you. Is that okay?"

"Mm-hmm!" The woman nodded vigorously without hesitation. "Yes, thank you!"

She tightened her grip on Sienna and moved closer, pressing herself against her.

"Let's go," Sienna said as she took the woman's hand, leading her slowly upstairs. They were guided by a servant who led them to a bedroom on the upper floor.

Sienna helped the woman sit down on the couch, then grabbed a comb to tidy up her messy long hair, pulling it back into a neat fishtail braid.

Taking a closer look, Sienna noticed the woman's face was dirty, as if she'd rubbed it against something.

A servant quietly handed over a damp towel, and Sienna accepted it, wiping the woman's face clean to reveal her true features.

Sienna couldn't help but pause in surprise. The woman was beautiful... Her features resembled Josiah's quite a lot.

To be more accurate, Josiah looked like her. It turned out, Josiah had a bit of an androgynous look because he took after his mother.

Considering Josiah's age, his mother should be around fifty now. But this woman looked at least ten years younger than her actual age.

But what had happened to her? Josiah hadn't grown up with his parents; he seemed to have a grudge against his father, and his mother appeared to be mentally unstable.

"Gurgle..." Sienna's mind was racing with questions when she saw the woman clutching her stomach, which was grumbling in protest.

Embarrassed, the woman smiled shyly. "I'm hungry."

"Got it," Sienna replied with a soft smile, glancing at the servant. "Could you please prepare some food?"

"Of course, I'll get right on it," the servant quickly replied before darting off. A short while later, they returned with a food tray.

"I'll take it," Sienna said, accepting the tray and turning to the woman. "Can you eat by yourself?"

"Mm-hmm, I can," the woman nodded, picking up the bowl and chopsticks.

"Great." Sienna settled in beside her, quietly watching as she ate. The woman's demeanor was calm and elegant, and it was hard to tell that anything was amiss with her mental state.

Among the food prepared by the servant were medications recommended by a doctor. Once she finished eating, the woman began to feel drowsy.

Sienna helped her to the bed and laid her down gently. Before long, the woman was fast asleep. Sienna tucked her in and drew the curtains closed.

Downstairs, Josiah said, "I'm taking her with me!"

"No way." Andy let out a light scoff, "She's my wife."

"Your wife?" Josiah's voice trembled with restrained fury, a sarcastic smirk creeping onto his lips. "Have you forgotten how you treated her?"

How did his mother go mad? He hadn't seen it firsthand.

But ever since he could remember, he heard the anguished cries echoing from that little apartment all those years ago.

"Andy." Josiah took a deep breath, his thin lips pressed tight. "She owes you a lot. That's right."

"But being with you is what truly hurt her! She was just eighteen when she had me. She was a child when she followed you. Her mind wasn't even fully developed! Do you dare say you didn't have any suspicion of coercion?"

Josiah felt his heart twist painfully. "Killing someone wouldn't bring her lasting pain; it's been nearly thirty years. She's lived like this... enough! Let her go!"

Andy laughed lowly, "A child always stays close to his mother, don't you? She never raised you a single day, yet you defend her so fiercely."

Narrowing his eyes, he continued, "Want to take care of her? Come back, and you can see her every day. You can do whatever you want to repay her. Otherwise..."
