Once they were done , Miranda sat beside Howard , coaxing him to sip some water .

Though his feeding tube hadn’t been removed yet , the doctors had instructed them to let him start drinking slowly .

After all , he hadn’t eaten by mouth for many years , and this was part of his recovery ,

“ Here we go , ” Miranda said gently , spooning a bit of water for him .

Howard tried his best , and a little water escaped the corner of his mouth as he swallowed .

Josiah was quick to wipe it away with a towel .

Suddenly , there was a knock at the door .

Her makeup was still on , and she looked utterly exhausted from a sleepless night and the rushed trip .
