The door opened inside; Aunty Lin entered with a food tray and put it on the bedside table.
"You know your brother is just worried about you; why quarrel with him?" Aunty Lin walked in person.
When the person heard her voice, the back turned and looked at Aunty Lin with a grieving expression.
"But Aunt Lin, I just wanted to go out for a while alone; why does he have to be so strict? The girls around my age live so freely,
Yet I can't even go to college outside the country because my brother thinks I can't handle the outside world. Do I look so weak to you?" Nina asked with a pitiful expression.
If not for breaking the little girl's heart, Aunt Lin would say yeah, you look like a little bird that needs the wings of your brother, but the girl was already angry; if she said something like this, the girl might blow up.
Even though Nina was a quiet and peaceful child since childhood, she was like fire; when she got on something and couldn't do that, both brother and sister have the same character.
"Aunt Lin, I have never gone out, nor do I have any friends. Finally, someone invited me for dinner; don't you think I should take this chance to explore the outside world?" Nina's expression suddenly fell when she mentioned not having a friend.
Aunt Lin also felt her sadness; since birth, Nina grew up under David's wings, and her father's unfaithfulness broke a happy family, ruining these children's little hearts; David was there for his mother and sisters since he was 10.
Some can never be for one woman; not every man needs many women in their life, like David and Nina's father; that man and Nora got married because they fell in love.
Nora even sacrificed her own family to be with an orphan man, but in return, she got betrayed by that man.
This made David have trust issues, he made friends, but only those who were trustworthy, but in Nina's case, David didn't let Nina and Rose meet with too many people, who are predominantly male.
Not because he was narrow-minded but because he wanted to let them have freedom once they could face the world with their heads up.
His worries about his two sisters differed; Rose was his father's illegitimate daughter, which was taboo in society; people never accepted Rose with good eyes.
Nina was timid since she had so much at such a young age, which made her insecure about people, but suddenly she became excited to go out of nowhere, which made David more worried about Nina.
Aunt Lin walked close to Nina and patted her head. "Darling Nina, the world is not as simple as it looks; no matter how much the world yells, a woman is secure.
A woman can never be free outside because there are men like your father and much worse, so an adult must protect their precious princess, and your brother is doing what he needs."
Aunt Lin can be gentle, but she can be a tiger mother when needed.
For the Xiver's children, she would go to any length.
Nina pouted, "But Brother allowed Rose to go to J country." Nina complained.
Aunt Lin sighed; she understood why Nina became so stubborn this time; since Rose left for her study, there was another reason David agreed with Rose's decision, still after Rose's departure made Nina feel lonely.
"Okay, I'll talk to you, brother, but this once." Aunt Lin couldn't ignore the pleading look in Nina's eyes,
Hearing it, Nina's eyes sparked. "Really, Aunt Lin?" She asked with a smile.
Aunt Lin nodded, grabbed the tray, and put it before Nina. "Before that, finish the food; you have eaten nothing since last night." Aunt Lin held her hand and handed her the spoon.
Nina nodded, she might be stubborn, but she knew she should respect Aunty Lin; she would never refuse her hand.
Inside the study room,
David was sitting in front of his desk and working on the laptop when Aunt Lin entered; seeing her, David could already guess why she was there.
"What, still on hunger strike?" He asked with an expressive face.
