Kate was startled. She unconsciously looked at Noah. Then, when a shadow stood before the little boy, Kate raised her head. She looked embarrassed; yeah, she shouldn’t be self-centered.
David hugged her. “I’ll find him. You don’t need to overthink, but Kate, not him,” David refused directly.
Kate nodded; she understands that,
David went to call the chop for his mother-in-law; Kate went to her mother and sat in front of her. Seeing the pale and barely breathing body, she felt an unknown pain gripped her heart tightly; she couldn’t live in peace.
David came back, and when he saw her pale face, he instantly regretted announcing the truth about their relationship at the party. If he knew his mother would react like this, he would have told her differently.
Soon the chopper landed on the back of the south mansion,, when the chopper’s noise reached Kate's ear, she looked at David. “Can I go with my mother? She needs me,” Kate said with tears in her eyes. She just met them as her parents, yet fate played such a cruel game on them.
She wanted to cry her heart out and ask God why God was so cruel to her parents. They had lost their daughter for so many years, yet when they finally got their daughter back, their never-ending suffering was nowhere to end.
“NO, you can't,” both David and her father yelled at the same time.
When Kate heard them, she looked at them confused; why does her mother want to see her when she wakes up? Now they refused to go with her.
“Princess, you can’t go with us; the man who treats your mother allowed no one inside his secret place, even he allowed me when she needed me, so it’s no use even you leave with us,
I’ll inform you when your mother wakes up, so stay here, with David, I’ll be at ease” Nate looked at Kate with fatherly love and adoration in his eyes, Kate’s heart warmed with a bitter feeling.
Seeing her sad, Nate walked to her and hugged his daughter. Finally, his guilty heart has calmed down after 15 years. “Daddy is sorry because of your mother. I had to choose her over you because I thought I had lost you, so I didn’t want to lose her. Sorry, my princess..”
Nate Allen had never cried over anyone other than once he discovered his enemies poisoned his wife, yet now, after so long seeing his daughter, he couldn't contain his tears anymore.
Seeing her father like that, Kate felt even worse; no parents ever would lose their children if not for something impossible, and she knew her father loved her mother more than her, but she was happy.
She understood her father’s nature because if someday David had to choose between their kids and her, he would unconditionally choose Kate over his kids, but he would choose their kids over his life.
“Dad, I never blamed you, and never will,” Kate said firmly; Nate’s heart warmed with love; his daughter became such a great daughter, why she wouldn’t, since childhood, Kate was calm and peaceful minded, even though she was the noble daughter of the Allen family. Everyone liked her because she was an understanding child.
Still, now, she was like she was in her childhood; David’s heart ached to see her like that; he wanted her to fuss and ask for an explanation why they didn’t save her. But, instead, because of her father’s choice, she had to spend 15 years of her life as an orphan in that Waston family as their burden.
But she didn’t, as if it didn’t matter to her anymore. Thinking about this, David’s heart ached even more.
“Stay here, and take care of our little stars” Nate Allen wanted to give her an explanation, but for now, he didn’t have the time for that; his wife’s life mattered the most in his life, even though he knew he owes his daughter an explanation, he would give her, but for now he needs to somewhere with his wife.
Kate nodded; Nate kissed her forehead; it showed how much his daughter meant to him; it just forced him to do something that, as a father, he never wanted to do, but as a husband and lover, he had to do.
