Hector looked at the man lying on the ground, thinking that maybe it was the first time for this man to ever do something like that, since a recidivist would by no means be as awkward as he did.
The man lying on the ground was a rather thin young man about twenty years old.
He curled up on the ground for a while and answered in panic, "Please, forgive me! I'm just a little theft! I saw that there was no one inside of the house, and thus I lost my head for the moment and broke in!"
As Katherine remained silent, Hector, standing aside, spoke out first, "Don't you ever try to fool us! The house will not be as neat as such if you are here merely for stealing!"
In a cold tone, he then continued, "Previously, I saw that you were hiding behind the curtain, and moved inside as you saw us. You must have been waiting for a long time here, aren't you?"
With a pause, Hector slightly kicked the young man's thigh and said, "You'd better tell us the exact reason why you're here, and maybe we will just let you go. Otherwise, we will hand you over to the policeman. You are not going to just ruin the rest of your life for that, aren't you, young man?"
Hearing that, the young man slowly put down his hands from his own face and asked, "Is that you guys really not going to call the police if I tell you the truth?"
Katherine was wondering what made this cowardly young man ever dare to break into her house.
Hector hummed, "It mainly depends on your explanation."
With a flattering expression on his face, the young man then crawled up from the ground, sat on the ground cross-legged and said, "Please, do not report this to the police! Just let me go, since I have taken nothing from the house, and you guys have given me a real going-over."
Hearing that, Katherine again grabbed up the stick and threatened, "Just tell us why the hell you're here, or I don't mind doing that again!"
In panic, the man waved his hand hastily and said, "Please, don't! Someone told me that you were living alone here, and paid me a good price to come over and beat you up. That is all I know!"
"What? Is that what you came here for? To beat me up?" Katherine was stunned.
With genuine expression in his eyes, the young man nodded, "Yes, she said she would pay me a good amount of money after I finished the job and took photos to prove it to her."
Then, with an unashamed smile on his face, he continued, "Damn, it's indeed a great deal of money! I bet that no one would ever reject the proposal!"
Katherine took a sigh and said, "I guess it is first time that you've ever tried to do something like that, isn't it?"
Dumbfounded, the young man then answered reluctantly with a bashful face, "You're right, I've never done something like that before."
Hector looked at Katherine, and asked, "Any idea about the identity of the one behind all this?"
"Sure." Katherine had already found an answer within her mind, "The one was Marshall's mother. She is the only one I know who will ever come up with such a dirty trick."
Possibly, Mrs. Grant failed to find anyone who was willing to help her do the job, and thus she turned to this young man of her kind, who never made, but always broke.
Hector didn't know that Katherine used to fight Mrs. Grant before, and thus was a little surprised to hear the answer, "But why did she do that?"
Katherine and Marshall had already divorced, and the rumors spreading online did have exerted a severe impact on Marshall's reputation.
However, it had nothing to do with Katherine, and Mrs. Grant had no reason to ever do something like that against her.
Katherine offered an awkward smile, sat by her bed and said, "Well, it's quite a long story."
She didn't really want to tell Hector the truth that she had beaten Marshall's mother up before, since it was totally a shame for them both.
Helplessly, Katherine looked at the young man and asked, "Do you still remember what your client looked like?"
The man nodded, "Yes, I do! We just met this afternoon!"
Katherine stared at him for a while, and continued, "Could you please tell me your name?"
Without any hesitation, the man nodded again and said, "Sure, you can just call me Husky."
'OK… Quite a memorable and comical name.' Katherine thought to herself.
After some thought, Katherine said, "Listen, Husky: I can just let you go, and keep everything that happened today a secret. But you have to do me a favor. Is that OK?"
Hearing that, Husky answered in haste, "I will do anything if you can let me go!"
Somehow, Katherine thought that this young man's characters did have some places in common with Kyle.
Katherine then turned to Hector and asked, "Do you have any photos of Marshall's mother? I want this man to make an identification."
It was quite an easy thing to do, since the wedding ceremony of Marshall and Katherine was so grand that even the news program had reported it and taken photos for each member of the family who had appeared.
